Our apartment, the “grotto” was unbelievable! It was like being on a movie set. Everything about this property is breathtakingly gorgeous and picturesque. We used it as a homebase and went into Florence for day trips and then visited wineries in the local area. Lots of great restaurants and small quaint towns to visit nearby. This is not a full-service hotel so it is important to know that before you go and there is no breakfast on site so if you want coffee in the morning you need to be prepared to provide your own supplies. They have all of the cooking utensils that you need. There are many wonderful little gathering spots in and around the castle for enjoying aperitifs or your lunch or dinner alfresco. Best picture taking opportunities ever! Note, our apartment did not have air-conditioning but they provided many fans and that was fine. Little to no mosquitoes so we were able to leave all of our windows wide open without a problem.

We were in la grotta a nice apartment on the ground floor and very nice and big rooms. only the food in the restaurant was a little disappointment for us.
