The house is nice, spacious, and in a great location. The property rental company Vacasa has awful customer service. If you don’t have any issues come up/ have to talk to them during your stay, you’re going to have a great time. Here’s the feedback I left for them directly: 1. Remove the locks on the bedroom doors or leave a set of keys for them in the home. We got accidentally locked out of one of the bedrooms causing our friends to miss their entire day of skiing. This is clearly a repeated problem because there was a kohls card left near the door that got locked, which was eventually used to force the lock open (6 hours later). 2. Give the guests a single direct point of contact from Vacasa for the duration of their stay. I literally messaged/called with at least 20 different people. Every time I called, I had to re-explain the entire lock situation and no one in HQ could provide an update because they “had to check with the local team.” We submitted the lock problem at 8am and they said a vacasa employee would be there at 10. They did not show up. Then they said a lock smith would be there between 1-2pm. At 8am, I directly asked if a locksmith could come because the person I spoke with had no confidence that the vacasa employee would have a key to unlock the bedroom door. It was consistently terrible customer service all day with no compensation for the inconvenience. 3. No paper towels or tissues anywhere in the home, which is minor, but doesn’t make sense for a big house hosting a lot of people. Made cooking challenging.
This place is amazing. Close to Donner Lake and located in a quiet neighborhood. Spacious enough for a big family for vacation. The rooms were nice and clean. The only thing is the place can be a bit hot during the summer months as there is no A/C and the living room has big windows but no covers. Also, the owner keeps their vacation car at the property... so you don’t actually have full use of the garage. Something to note if you’re bringing 2+ cars. But, there’s enough space in the driveway. Other than that, our family had a great time here and the host is quick to respond to inquiries.
The place is very spacious and nice for families to stay. kids had much fun in house and it closes to many kids-friendly resort.
This is a lovely house. It's very spacious, pretty, and clean. It's in a very quiet area. Regarding value - if you have a group of 10 people (which the house accommodates) the 600+ listing price is pretty fair I would say. The flat cleaning fee is close to 300 dollars for a two night stay, so maybe keep that in mind. A couple of things we were slightly surprised by, given the description: 1. the house is a full 30 min drive from the lake (Commons Beach) - which is nontrivial if you think about having to go back to the house to change or whatnot after water sports; 2. the house is 4.2 miles away from the 'amenities' which is where you would find the pool and the kayaks, etc.; 3. there is no grill, despite the description alluding to the fact that you can grill on the balcony; 4. there is a strict no-pets policy; 5. we booked this place in mid-July and the AC was not working at all, the room temperature stayed high throughout the day. 6. also may be a mid-July issue but there were lots of small insects in the house, spiders and ants, that kind of thing. The host was fast to respond to questions and was quite helpful and polite. They were not able to accommodate an early check in or late checkout but I think it was just circumstantial and they did their best. The area is quite nice if a little remote. With a 15 minute drive you can get to coffee shops, grocery stores, restaurants. And with a 30 minute drive you can get to Commons Beach which is where you would most closely access Lake Tahoe.
