We rented Rick's place for the recent eclipse. The distance was perfect from downtown Montpelier. It was only a few miles away and was surrounded by beautiful scenery. The cabin itself was a cozy, warm, and peaceful getaway with all the modern conveniences. The kitchen and bathroom were very modern, with the hot water always hot as soon as you turn on any faucet. It was a little more remote than I was expecting or used to. Getting there, you had to drive through a few miles of dirt roads which were very muddy because of the time of year. The cell service was non-existent which is good and bad. With that said, Rick provides very fast internet service which has great range even around his yard. Being so remote, the landscape was beautiful and the stars at night were unbelievable! Our family enjoyed our stay very much, we built a fire outside both nights! Check out was straight forward. I even left something behind and Rick was kind enough to ship it back to me!

Beautiful location in the woods. The cabin was even nicer than the pictures. Very usable kitchen. Comfortable bed. Rick was very responsive when we had a problem getting up the driveway in our car due to ice. (I suggest arriving in the daylight!). But he took care of our situation and followed up to make sure we were happy with our stay.

Stayed at Dr. Rick’s cabin with a couple of friends for a weekend to escape finals season. The property is so relaxing and beautiful, kitchen is perfectly stocked with everything you need, and you’re only 15 minutes from downtown. My friends and I had an awesome time, and we highly recommend staying here!!

I highly recommend Rick’s cabin, and I would absolutely choose to stay here again! To start, the host was very friendly and communicative leading up to and during my stay to ensure we had everything we needed. Rick was available for any potential issues that came up (although none did come up during my trip!). The cabin was so comfortable - it had everything we possibly needed for a few nights’ stay. I appreciated the modern features (excellent WiFi, a TV, heat/AC). While the cabin is quiet and nestled up the mountain, it is not too remote - just a quick drive into downtown Montpelier, and accessible to other great towns nearby (25 minutes to Waterbury, and 40 minutes to Stowe). A highlight is the screened in porch off the sleeping area, it was a great place to spend evenings/ early mornings. Can’t think of one downside to this place, it was everything I needed and hoped for!

Rick's Cabin is a very special place. The Cabin is Rustic with every Modern Convenience. We LOVED the screened porch. So peaceful & beautiful. The STARS! You feel like you are in such a remote location yet you're only minutes from Montpelier! Definitely will be back!
