This is an ideal location, close to Montpelier and easy access to Interstate 89 Exit 7 and 8, as well as many surrounding towns and country roads. This peaceful setting is set back off the main road and you have your own private entrance and deck.
You may have heard that Montpelier experienced flooding on July 10, 2023. We, however, are at a higher elevation from downtown so we have not experienced the flooding. Since County Road is newly paved and a large culvert added last summer, our road is well maintained and not affected by any flooding or mud.
We are located at 1573 County Road in East Montpelier. County Road begins as Main Street coming out of downtown Montpelier. You will notice a rural setting and pass Morse Farm Maple Sugarworks on the right hand side of the road. You'll reach our blue mailbox on the left, almost one-half mile beyond Morse Farm. The house is not visible from the road but you will find 1573 on our BLUE MAILBOX and a long driveway lined with tall pine trees. Start watching when you see the 40 mph sign and our blue mailbox and driveway are on the left just before the shiny new guard rail.
Places to walk: Try our new "Bluebird Loop", a mowed path beyond your deck where you can follow the signs through scenic field, woodland, past the bird house, apiary, and wetlands. This 3/4 mile path takes about 25 minutes. Enjoy!
During your stay, a short walk back on County Road to Barnes Road is a nice country road to walk/run or bike. It is 1 mile to Center Road, so it makes for a 2-mile walk round trip which can be extended by crossing Center Road and continuing on Bliss Road until you want to turn around. There are several trailheads for the East Montpelier Trail system nearby. A printed trail map is in the suite and accessible on line.
Driving over to North Street which runs parallel to County Road (go right on Cummings Road as you head back past Morse Farm) where you can park on the road for a walk up North Street, try turning to walk a bit on Sparrow Farm Road, and see gorgeous vistas and a view of the Worcester Range, Camels Hump, and even the ski slopes of Sugarbush off to the far left.
Other nice walking areas are trail on Dodge Road; on Sibley Road near the Peck Orchard; Adamant Music School area at Center Road and Haggett Roads, Kents Corner in Calais. In and around Montpelier, you'll find Hubbard Park trails (fun hike to the tower); North Branch Nature Center trails, and the bike path in Montpelier which goes along the river and is easy access from downtown. (although it has had damage in the area behind Montpelier High School. It is clearer heading in both directions close to the Hunger Mountain Coop.)

Groceries can be found at Shaws supermarket on Main Street near Route 2 (Memorial Drive) and at the Hunger Mountain Coop. (You do not need to be a member to shop there.)
Adamant Coop is approx 3 miles from here (head left out of driveway and turn right on Haggett Road to find the cutest general store and picnic area.
Curtis Pond and the Maple Corner Store and "Whammy Bar" for food and evening music are just about 6 miles north up the road in Calais. Go Left out or our driveway. To swim or sit by the water, turn left after the Store and you will find the parking area on the right with two paths leading to the water. Casual, free, see loons, enjoy a cool dip or walk or rest by the water.
Morse Farm is famous for its maple syrup, maple "creemees" (like soft serve ice cream cones or dish, and a fun place to walk around, see how syrup is made, buy gifts, or even milk, bread, bacon, eggs, kettle corn, cheese, and local meats, corn, apples , berries in season.
There are several restaurant and bar options in Montpelier. Guests have found it helpful to make a reservation at Sarducci's on Main Street in order to be sure to have a dinner during busy seasons.

Pull all the way up to the ramp on the left side of the house for easy access to your own private entrance. It may look a little grassy but this is your parking area.
You can let yourselves in as you arrive, no need for a "check in" until you are ready to say hello by message or if you see us around.
Enter the door and find a breezeway with your guest suite entrance and key pad on your door.
Press the 4 digit code you were given and then the "check mark" symbol too to open the door. To lock when you leave, just press the checkmark symbol or any one button. No need to lock the breezeway doors.
Feel free to leave the outside light on if you will be out and returning after dark. Please turn off the outside porch light and hall light when you are in for the night. To conserve energy, please turn down (or off) the heat or cooling system when you are out for the day. And please close windows if rain is forecasted.

We live in the main house and we park in the driveway and the carport. You may see us around the yard as we tend to the barn, firewood, garden, and greenhouse.
Garbage: If you wish to have garbage removed before your stay is over, please message me and leave the bag in the hallway/breezeway and I will take care of it.
Laundry services are not available here but there are laundromats in Montpelier and even a service where you can drop it off and pick it up later, all washed, dried, and folded.
