For the lone traveller looking for a base to enjoy stunning South West coastal walks this is an ideal and comfortable place to stay. Short drives take you to excellent walk start points, from Westward Ho! to Clovelly to the Hartland peninsula. David also provides a good selection of breakfast items to set one off for the day

Lovely and peaceful, but quite cut off without any means of transport. I walked everywhere, but there are no shops within walking distance, so to get groceries would entail a bus ride. That said, David and Sally were extremely generous with fruit and breakfast supplies (a loaf of bread, litre of milk, yogurts, cereals, pots of jam etc) and offered me a lift to the supermarket when they went. Peppercombe (around one hour's walk) was probably the closest beach, the nearer beach being inaccessible as the approach is through private land. I was lucky to get lifts (three!) from friendly locals. The A39 is an extremely fast, busy, narrow road, and walking along it (or cycling even) would have been very dangerous. David kindly printed off an up-to-date bus timetable for me but, if you go without transport, bear in mind the buses stop for around four hours every afternoon! The Tack Room is well away from the busy road - a 15 minute walk uphill - so arriving in a taxi from Bideford made sense!

David was there to meet and greet me. He went through the very clear and concise list of helpful information about the accommodation, local shops and takeaways, internet and fire safety. He and his lovely wife cared for my every need. The accommodation is single person only with no pets please. I was cosy and warm every evening/night. There are no cooking facilities but there is a kettle and all tea/coffee etc is supplied with the room along with cereals etc for your breakfast. Parking is private and right outside the Tack Room door along with a small table and chair so you can sit outside and enjoy birdsong and sunshine. I highly recommend the Tack Room if you are seeking solitude, peace and quiet.

The room is really great and super accessorised! there is the private parking lot and David was super great in every moment I needed. It's a really quiet place, I've slept like a baby. I recommend it!
