Llanrhian · 整套民居 · 3室5床1.5卫 · 可住6人 · Charming cottage for six, great coast & sea views.
For a real taste of the Pembrokeshire coast, come and stay at Tilley's Cottage - a beautifully restored welsh stone cart shed. Situated on a smallholding in an outstanding coastal location in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, Tilley's boasts breathtaking views of seas, skies and sunsets. Five miles from St Davids and one mile from Porthgain with its friendly pub, fish & chip bistro and galleries. Described by visitors as 'cosy, spacious and full of charm', Tilley's Cottage is an original stone-built cart shed. It was converted in 2001 when several of the original fittings were found and left inside as features. Some of the inner stone walls remain exposed and the large stone arch is an impressive feature in the lounge. As Tilley's is a converted cart shed, it is located on our smallholding, next door to our farm house - but even so it has privacy. The front entrance and patio area are not overlooked and a large portion of the garden is the same. The outer door leads into a porch with separate WC. From the porch, two steps lead directly up into the large airy lounge which has a vaulted ceiling with pegged beams and exposed stone walls. The furniture comprises an L-shaped sofa seating six, a wooden settle, open hearth with wood burner (logs provided), flat screen internet TV (also with freeview sky satellite box), well stocked shelves of local history books & walking guides.Adjoining the lounge is a well-equipped kitchen-diner , with oven, hob and grill; fridge-freezer, dishwasher; microwave; sink and drainer; worktops & storage cupboards, dining table and chairs for up to six people. The kitchen is normally stocked with 'essentials' - teabags, coffee, sugar, basic herbs and spices - but due to Covid restrictions we are not currently supplying any food or drink items - sorry! Other essentials, though, we can leave for you - dishwashing cloths, kitchen roll, tea towels and cleaning materials. From the kitchen there are full-width patio doors leading out onto a completely private patio area with beautiful garden, countryside and sea views. The family bathroom has a full suite, a roomy separate shower and two heated towel rails. Toilet rolls and liquid hand soap are provided. All three bedrooms (a double, a twin and a bunk) have comfortable mattresses with good quality bedding (bed linen included), and also have large built-in wardrobes. The double room has lovely sea views. Outside Tilley's is a gated courtyard parking area large enough for two cars, and to the side is a lawned garden bordered by Pembrokeshire hedge banks. There is a small lean-to stable at the end of the Cottage which houses a washing machine, the portable barbecue and spare logs. Heating and hot water are supplied via an oil-fired boiler and there are fully controllable electric heaters in the bedrooms. There is free WiFi available. Logs for the woodburner are provided free of charge. Well-behaved pets are welcome by arrangement at no extra charge. Changeover day is FRIDAY but can often be altered if you check with us.
a beautiful home in a perfect location - some real gems of locations to be found in walking distance. private garden is a wonderful addition for young children
Gorgeous, cosy and spacious cottage with a great outdoor space for the dogs. The hosts were lovely, very ammicable and kept us in the loop with anything we needed to know. Would very happily stay again - thanks for a lovely stay!!
Ruth's place was lovely. Clean, cozy and everything you could possibly need. We loved that we could use the fire in the evenings, that was a nice addition. We went on coastal walks without having to jump in the car and it wasn't far at all to the beach. We would definitely come back. Thanks Ruth!
We loved Ruth's place. Even nicer than the photos, it's clear the care and attention that had been paid to the renovation work in the cottage. We loved the pond area, the views are fantastic and the place had so much character. Great location too, so much to see in that part of Pembrokeshire. We really didn't want to leave! Thanks Ruth
It's an absolutely lovely place to stay. with the fire going, it keeps very warm, which was ideal with the winter outside We did get treated to a gorgeous sunset down in the bay, which could be seen from the house. We hope to now return and enjoy this location in the summer months, perhaps.
The area around Tilley's Cottage is a stunning mix of countryside and coastline. Access to the coast path is a mile away. The Strumble Shuttle coastal bus service (from right outside the cottage gate) can be used to get to a start point and walk back without you having to use your car. The Sloop at Porthgain is a popular local pub - and Porthgain is an interesting harbour village - once a thriving industrial area, it now has two art galleries and an award-winning restaurant, The Shed.
Two miles from Tilley’s is Abereiddy beach with toilet facilities, parking (charges apply) and a refreshment van selling locally produced food (normally open Easter to October half term). St David’s with its magnificent cathedral, tourist information centre and a range of good quality cafes, pubs and restaurants is a fifteen minute drive away. The beaches at Whitesands (near St Davids - no dogs allowed in peak season) and Newgale are also popular choices for visitors - these beaches have all facilities and are great for surfing.
The Strumble Shuttle, route 404, walkers bus service runs all year - days and times vary but you can check these out online. You can stop any bus right outside the cottage gate, ride along to coastal destinations between St David's and Fishguard - and walk back along the coast path and country lanes.
There is also an hourly bus service running Monday to Saturday between Fishguard and St David's which you can board right outside the cottage - the Traws Cymru T11 service.
The nearest railway stations are at Goodwick (near Fishguard) and Haverfordwest.
