Lovely little location if you are looking for a calm relaxing getaway. Has a lovely private lake on property good for some fishing and water activities. Host is very friendly and helpful, even went the extra mile to make extra room for another guest. Can’t fault this place at all and would highly recommend staying. I will definitely be visiting again.
Angela and Martyn have created a little piece of heaven. So tranquil, you can leave the world outside the gates. As soon as you arrive you are taken to your accommodation on a bunting-clad golf buggy - such a lovely touch. The lodge was incredible - clean, warm, spacious, cosy, beautifully decorated, comfortable. The outside space feels private with beautiful views and the hot tub which is magical! The grounds are amazing - you are absolutely spoiled for nature whilst you are there and fascinating history. Lovely local pub a short walk. I cannot speak highly enough of our stay - Angela went above and beyond whilst we were there and afterwards when I had left an item behind. We left feeling relaxed and overjoyed - thank you so much!
Bourton is a beautiful village, easy access from the A303 - the main road from London to the West County. I grew up in the village, moved away but was always destined to retire here.
The village has a olde world pub which serves home cooked food, in the next village there is also a very good pub with excellent restaurant- both a walk away
I think visitors will come here for the peace and quiet, walkers and mountain bike enthusiasts will also find plenty to do as we are a short distance from the Nation Trust property of Stourhead with its gardens and extensive woodlands
If this is a base for a more explorative break then we are ideally situated for visiting historical cities of Bath, Salisbury and Wells along with Wokey Hole, Stonehenge Cheddar caves and Longleat - there’s honestly something for everyone. Explore, stay local, I’m sure you’ll find this recently converted barn a tranquil haven
Local train station Gillingham is 4 miles from us, Castle Cary and Warminster are around 20 minutes. Gillingham is on the mainline from Waterloo London.
We are 5 minutes off the A303, the main link from London to West Country.
