We loved our stay. The stargazing was absolutely incredible. The Murphy bed was more comfortable than we thought. And the home was clean and cozy. A super unique experience. It did get kind of chilly at night (early May) and we were glad we had a few extra blankets in the car - as we couldn’t find any extras in the home. We’d absolutely return. A quiet dreamy sanctuary. ✨

Not quite what I expected. Getting to experience the earthship architecture was cool, and the location worked well for our needs, and was dog friendly. The reason I didn't give it a higher rating was primarily cleanliness. There was unwashed blood on the top blanket when we got there, so we had to take it off and just sleep with top sheets. It was pretty bad smelling which seemed the reason for the strongly scented candles, and we found fuzzy mold growing in the compost bin so we stored it outside for our stay and didn't use it. Stove would not stay lit and only one burner worked reliably. I was hoping for some nice plants outside but it was just weeds and dirt in the yard, with construction on nearby homes made for a not very relaxing yard, as well as cigarette butts all over the ground. Felt a little bit like a tourist trap more than an actual community and lacked character, just felt like a money making scheme, and made me feel depressed about using AirBnB. Bring your own bedding.

This is probably the best way to get a sense of earthship living. Renting this house is a far better value than what is offered over at the nearby "institute." really nice to spend a few days seeing how the sun and clouds affect the space. Important note is that this unit does NOT have a supplemental heater or fireplace. We were definitely chilly after a cloudy day in early April. The sunny day was very comfortable inside, despite the cold outside. Pros: good value for an immersive earthship experience soild wifi - 2 people both zoom-ing without issues. unique! Solar power worked great - zero issues. the system fully recharged by 11a on the sunny day, and by 2p on the cloudy day. Water cistern was fine - we hardly made a dent in the level. Nice shower, good hot water from an on-demand propane heater. Cons: we were not fans of the Murphy Bed. No supplemental heat - cold inside if it's cloudy. Maintenance issues like broken stove burners and broken faucets Not very walkable
