One of the most iconic buildings in Kersey, the Grade II listed River House is situated beside 'the splash', the charming ford that gives the property its name. With its impressive sixteenth century front porch, River House impresses from first glance. Once inside, the welcoming atmosphere and of the property is accentuated by the sympathetic restoration that highlights its period features while at the same time offering guests a supremely comfortable and practical stay. With its enormous inglenook fireplaces, welcoming woodburners, wood-panelled dining room, flagstone flooring and beautifully preserved exposed beams, River House is a supremely comfortable stay in a slice of history. Named as one of the 'best places to live' by Muddy Stilettos, Kersey is a tiny jewel. With the Bell Inn providing excellent food and the retail and entertainment opportunities of Kersey Mill just a mile away, the village perfectly complements the period appeal of River House. One mile down the road is Kersey Mill, offering a diverse collection of independent businesses and café, in a stunning, historic water mill setting.
Five minutes' drive away, Hollow Trees Farm offers a farm trail with animal encounters and a lovely farm shop with all food necessities, locally grown vegetables and meat from their farm
Hadleigh is the nearest town, surrounded by 246 listed buildings with plenty of history to explore it also has 2 supermarkets, an award-winning butcher, cafes and a food market on Friday mornings (with stalls featuring an excellent greengrocer and the famous Wooster's Bakery, featured in Times as one of best bakeries in the UK)
Particularly good local pubs serving food include The King's Head, The Bildeston Crown and The Peacock Inn in Chelsworth.

Set by the River Stour, Dedham is in the heart of Constable Country. The attractive high street is lined with Georgian-fronted houses, old inns and a large Art and Crafts Centre. The magnificent 15th church was built from the wealth of the medieval cloth industry. Constable's work The Ascension can be seen within St Mary's Parish Church.
Hadleigh
Hadleigh is an ancient market town, it is surrounded by 246 listed buildings and offers plenty of history to explore. Don't forget to visit Tito's Italian restaurant, that serves authentic Italian food.
Lavenham
Nestled in the heart of the stunning Suffolk countryside, Lavenham is one of Englan's finest medieval wool villages. Medieval charm can be found around every corner with its winding streets, thatched cottages and some 320-listed timber framed buildings. This unique village was created some 750 years ago by Hendry III when he granted Lavenham "market status" which stimulated the most prosperous period in the village's history. Today Lavenham is a thriving village with art galleries, restaurants, cafes, pubs and lots of interesting buildings to visit.
Long Melford
As its name implies, this wool town has a long, long High Street, populated by charming independent shops, vibrant art galleries, antique centres, cafes, restaurants, and, of course, typical Suffolk Inns. So, given all of this combined with beautiful architecture and amazing countryside, it is no wonder that this is such a desirable place.
Aldeburgh
A pretty coastal town on the river Alde in Suffolk which enjoys breathtaking views both seawards and following the River Alde inland. Possibly best known for having been the home of composer, Benjamin Britten and as the location of the internationally renowned Aldeburgh Festival. Aldeburgh remains an artistic and literary centre as well as a popular destination for holiday makers and sailors. Famous for many things - good food, great fish & chips, Aldeburgh Music, Maggi Hamblings' Scallop on the Beach being just a few.
Orford and Orfordness
Lying within the Suffolk Coasts and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Orford is a quiet, pretty village, steeped in history. The village grew in importance in the 12th Century when Henry II commissioned the Castle to be built. Orford is famous for its local oysters and smokehouses and has two shops selling a wide range of smoked produce. Pop into Pinney's in Orford to pick up some of the finest fresh fish in the county.
Thorpeness
Built by a wealthy Scottish barrister in the 1900s, and transformed into a fairytale holiday village, with Peter Pan islands in its man-made lake (the Meare), a 70ft fairytale "house in the clouds" and pretty mock-tudor homes, Thorpeness is everything an English seaside village should be. Boasting a golf course, a tennis club, boating lake, cafes, a great local pub, cycle routes, a beach as well as a number of ice cream shops, Thorpeness is the perfect holiday location.

The internationally renowned Snape Maltings, five miles from Aldeburgh, is one of the world's leading centres of music. It offers inspiring concerts and festivals throughout the year, from the flagship Aldeburgh Festival in June to the folk, world and jazz of the Snape Proms throughout the month of August. For visitors, Snape Maltings brings together outstanding concerts and events alongside distinctive, independent shops, cafes, galleries, walks and river trips, all set against a breath-taking expanse of reeds, water and sky.
