Escape, relax and unwind in the stunning Derbyshire Dales and Peak District National Park. The Casey is an enchanting, cosy cottage with a large fully enclosed beautiful garden, a log burning fire, deep bath tub, private parking and garage. 2/3 Dogs welcome depending on size. This superb rated cosy cottage is a well equipped base on the Peak District Boundary Walk and minutes from the traffic free Tissington Trail, Carsington Water, Thor's Cave, Thorpe Cloud and Dovedale Stepping Stones. Once you step in through the front door, hang up your coat and kick off your boots you will feel at home in the cosy sitting room with tiled flooring, contemporary furniture and a welcoming wood-burning stove. The open stairway divides the sitting room from the modern, well-equipped kitchen which has a useful breakfast bar. The two bedrooms are tastefully presented with vaulted ceilings, exposed oak beams and consist of a double and a single. The designer bathroom has a large P-shaped bath with a shower over to refresh and soak those weary limbs at the end of the day. Rather quirkily, there’s a door on the first floor landing which leads out to the lovely South facing garden and stepping stones to the private garage and driveway on Ashes Lane. There’s plenty of space in the private garden at The Casey and lovely seating areas where you can enjoy a glass or two of something and look to the distant hills as the sun goes down with a soundtrack of singing birds and church bells. The garage has Bike Racks and space to store your kayak, canoe or outdoor gear.
Ashbourne is a 5 minute drive. You will find a co-op, Sainsbury, Aldi and M&S Foodstore, along with independent bakeries, delicatessen, butchers, fishmonger and fruit and veg shop.
If you fancy a takeaway then Ashbourne has a Chinese, Thai, Indian, Pizza, and some fantastic Fish and Chip Shops. Most of these places cater for vegetarian and vegan diets and gluten free options.
The Casey is perfectly placed to explore local trails on foot or bike with public footpaths accessible from the doorstep. You can even paddle a kayak on Carsington Water, go Fly fishing in hire boats from the Fishing Lodge. There are also facilities for hiring kayaks, canoes, rowing, sailing boats and windsurfing equipment at Carsington Water.
If culture, heritage, shopping or cuisine is more your thing then the equally lovely towns of Ashbourne and Bakewell are readily accessible as is Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Ilam Park, Matlock Bath, Cromford Mills, Crich Tramway and the Spa town of Buxton with its exquisitely beautiful Edwardian Opera House, Country Park and natural Limestone Caves at Pooles Cavern.
If Heritage Steam Locomotives and lunch with a glass of fizz whilst you pass through valleys and idyllic stations nestled in the glorious countryside ticks a box then why not plan a visit to Ecclesbourne Valley Railway whilst you are here.
Whatever month you choose to stay at The Casey you will be spoilt for choice on things to do. Whether you are a walker, cyclist, railway enthusiast, rambler, hilltop hiker, or just simply love the great outdoors and Peak District heritage, there is much to do in this fabulous scenic location and stunning countryside.
