Stein · 整套民居 · 1室1床1.0卫 · 可住2人 · Florrie's, Luxury Cottage for Couple in Stein
New for 2024, Florrie's is a very special, upside down, stone cottage in the historic village of Stein on the Waternish peninsula. The shorefront garden, has wonderful views across the islands in Lochbay to the Outer Hebrides, beyond. It is also just a short walk away from The Stein Inn & the Michelin starred, 'Lochbay Restaurant'. The open plan, upstairs living area, with its high ceiling and large windows is perfect for viewing the Waternish sunsets. There is allocated, off road parking. From the front door, stairs immediately ahead lead to the upstairs living area. This is a light, airy room with far reaching views & a high ceiling. It has an old green, enamel Morso log burner but there is also electric, panel heating, should you prefer this. It has a Harris Tweed sofa & single armchair. The dining & coffee tables were handmade for us by a local carpenter. There is a small kitchenette with a 2 ring electric hob and single oven / grill beneath. There is a dishwasher but no washing machine. There is ample crockery, glasses, cooking equipment. Downstairs, to the front of the property & with sea views is the spacious bedroom. This is the only room with the characteristic, cottage, low ceiling. This has yet another log burner, a treat for the winter months but there is also a wall heater, should you prefer. There is is a king sized bed, wardrobe and a chest of drawers. Immediately off the bedroom is the luxurious, spacious bathroom which has a big walk in rainfall shower and large, double ended bath. There is a large classic sink, wc and a heated towel rail. Outside, to the front guests have use of the walled front garden with steps down to the shore. There is a bench and a large table. This is shared with the guests in West House, our other property next door. Car parking is off road, to the side of the property. The back garden is not to be used by guests as it is not well maintained. The property was named after the owner’s lovely grandmother.
There are fabulous walks from the door & boat trips from the jetty. Waternish has wonderful sea & bird life & a wonderful coastline, all best viewed by sea. It's also a place rich in history, with the Thomas Telford village in Stein, built in 1785 of which Florrie's is part. There is also the famous ‘ Fairy Bridge & famous Trumpan Church, the scene of a bloody massacre. Waternish is conveniently situated for shopping and great dining in Dunvegan & Edinbane. There are also a number of galleries on Waternish.
Public transport is poor on Skye so guests who wish to tour the island are recommended to bring a car. There is, however, an excellent taxi service on Waternish.
自我介绍
We retired to Skye in 2012 where we lived for 10 years. For the first 5 years we lived at the top of Lochbay where we built Blue Moon Studio. We then moved down to Stein to renovate our son’s house, while renting out our own, ‘Overwater’. Once West House & Florrie’s were ready for guests, we moved further west to North Uist in the Western Isles. We are enjoying, ‘proper retirement’ while keeping an eye on Sam’s house in Stein.
