Sleeping up to six guests, Ty-Newydd suits families and friends who love exploring the outdoors whilst having a warm and comfortable base to come home to. The heart of this character home is the dual aspect country kitchen. Fresh and modern, it offers everything you could need and more in a practical well-equipped kitchen. With large fridge freezer, double oven and electric hob plus spacious dining table. There's even a wood burning stove sitting in the traditional hearth to give the room that extra cosy feel. Across the hall the sitting room has a relaxed feel with simple yet stylish décor and an ornamental Victorian fireplace. It is the perfect place to unwind perhaps reading a book, playing games or watching television. There's also underfloor heating and a handy ground floor cloakroom to keep everyone feeling really relaxed. On the first floor you can literally lie in bed and gaze out to sea from all bedrooms. The master bedroom boasts a comfortable king-size bed, while the other two bedrooms have a double and bunk-beds, all with quality linens and well placed furnishings. The modern family bathroom has a bath with rainfall shower over. Outside the garden is enclosed (shared with the neighbouring cottage), and safe for children to play. There's a lawn plus a patio with outdoor furniture, so you can enjoy dining alfresco when the weather allows, whilst gazing out to sea or up at the mountain backdrop. The location of Ty-Newydd really is very special. Additional Information: One well-behaved dog welcome. Five and six night breaks available on request. The garden and driveway is shared with the neighbouring property. Cot provided, please bring your own linen.
Dramatically located between the mountains and the sea, Ty-Newydd has a vast network of walks straight from your door, including tracks into the mountains and lush woodlands and paths leading down to the beach.
The nearby village of Dyffry Ardudwy has a long sandy beach backed by nature reserve sand dunes, as well as a railway station which takes you along the scenic coast. A mile or so across the fields and forest you will also find the riverside Ysgethin Inn, with a reputation for fine food and beers.
Just a short drive or scenic train ride away is Harlech, perhaps known best for its imposing castle, a World Heritage Site which stands proud over the town and beach below. It is open to visitors throughout the year, seasonal times. Claiming the steepest street in the northern hemisphere(!), also in Harlech you'll find a great array of shops and eateries as well as a base for outdoor activities including paddleboarding, kayaking and mountain bike hire. No trip to Harlech would be complete without venturing onto the amazing beach.
Nearby the old port town of Barmouth is also not to be missed. Beyond the promenade and beach, the Heritage Trail explores the historic shipbuilding, herring, wool and slate trade of this fascinating town. For young visitors of course there are trampolines, crabbing and candyfloss that no traditional seaside town should be without. With harbourside cafes and restaurants, there's something to suit everyone at Barmouth.
All with a backdrop of Snowdonia / Eyrie National Park, where there are endless opportunities to explore, including the famous Portmeirion Village and Gardens half an hour away and Zip World high wire thrills for adrenaline junkies, to name just a couple.
