The location of our urban retreat makes it easy to navigate the area on foot with several recommendations when you're strolling around:
- A 5-minute walk: Indulge in local eateries on Darling Street, a 3.1-kilometre street running from Victoria Road to Balmain East ferry wharf. It is the main thoroughfare and high street of the suburbs of Rozelle and Balmain, and a noted café and restaurant strip
- A 7-minute walk: On Saturdays, visit Rozelle Collectors market at Rozelle Public School
- An 8-minute walk: Enjoy Rozelle Parklands, a new multi-purpose open space designed for people of all ages and abilities, with a wetland, a boardwalk, picnic areas, barbeques, playgrounds, bush trails, and a Village Green to accommodate community-based events and organised sports.
- An 11-minute walk: Callan Park is cherished for its rich architectural heritage and its history as a hospital for the treatment of mental health disorders, which began in the 1870s and continued until the hospital closed in the early 2000s
- A 13-minute walk: Find King George Park and challenge yourself with a run or walk on the Bay Run, a 7-kilometer loop around the bay that takes you past mangroves and parks as it circumnavigates a nice part of the harbour
- A 16-minute walk: Jubilee Park is one of four parks that combine to make up the 17-hectare Glebe Foreshore Parks, which overlook the water at Rozelle Bay and Blackwattle Bay.
- A 22-minute walk: Take a swim in the Dawn Fraser Baths, a tidal saltwater pool located in Elkington Park

Public transport is readily available, with bus stops just 3 minutes away on Victoria Road, offering a swift 10-minute ride to the heart of Sydney. Explore the city's iconic landmarks, museums, and shopping districts with ease. From the heart of Sydney, it's easy to get around by foot, busses, trains, and ferries. Some of our recommendations to explore include:
- Explore Sydney by foot: Take the bus to Sydney Town Hall, walk through Hyde Park, take a look inside St. Mary's Cathedral. Then, walk through the beautiful Royal Botanic Garden, which takes you to the iconic Sydney Opera House where you can enjoy a break at the Opera Bar, overlooking the Harbour Bridge. From here, walk towards and under the Harbour Bridge, and explore The Rocks (one of the city's most popular and iconic neighborhoods, known for its rich history, cobblestone streets, historic buildings, vibrant markets, and lively atmosphere) or Barangaroo Reserve (a headland park that was designed to reflect the naturalistic landscapes that existed in the area before European settlement) before finishing up in Darling Harbour, which is home to a breadth of restaurants and a large playground with extensive water play elements. When you're done for the day, a bus from Darling Harbour will take you back to our home in only 10 minutes.
- Bondi to Coogee Coastal Walk: Enjoy one of Sydney’s most iconic walks, taking in beautiful beaches, cliff tops, and great cafes along the way. The 6-kilometer walk takes two to three hours, depending on how often you stop, but you can also allow a full day to do the walk and enjoy a swim at each of the beaches en route.
- Watsons Bay: Once a quaint fishing village, Watsons Bay is now a lovely seaside enclave with loads of appeal, located at the tip of the South Head peninsula in Sydney’s eastern suburbs. Enjoy a family picnic in a lush park, swim in a harbourside pool, dine on delicious seafood at a waterfront restaurant or hike up to a historic lighthouse.
- Manly Beach: Manly is one of those magic beaches that has something for everyone. It spans 3 kilometers, so there's lots of space to spread your towel on the soft white sand and relax all day. Enjoy a 30-minute ferry ride from Circular Quay to Manly Beach as it takes you across one of the world’s great natural harbours and out past the heads. Then hop off at the wharf for a short walk to the beach along the Corso, a lively shopping and pedestrian boulevard.

For those with a vehicle, street parking is available (we have a visitor parking license), providing convenient options for guests. Within one hour of driving you can enjoy several day trips, including:
- 36-minute drive: Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park is a protected area north of Sydney. It encompasses coastline, rainforest, bushland, and a portion of the Hawkesbury River. There are many highlights in this park, we recommend West Head Lookout, the Basin Picnic area (if lucky, you may be able to spot a wallaby), and Resolute Beach as a few good options.
- 44-minute drive: Known for dramatic scenery and beautiful walking tracks, the World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains encompasses steep cliffs, eucalyptus forests, waterfalls, and villages dotted with guesthouses, galleries, and gardens. When you reach the Blue Mountains, drive another 30 to 40 minutes to get to the heart of the Blue Mountains National Park, where we recommend visiting Wentworth Falls, The Three Sisters, The Grand Canyon Walking Track, and Jenolan Caves.
- 46-minute drive: Nestled between Sydney and Wollongong, the heritage-listed Royal National Park provides endless opportunities to reconnect with nature and admire its beauty. One of the world’s oldest national parks, it is a natural sanctuary of pristine beaches, littoral rainforests, and ancient Aboriginal sites, home to abundant wildlife, waterfalls, and wildflowers.
- 65-minute drive: Palm Beach is one of the most beautiful parts of Northern Sydney. The narrow peninsular is surrounded by water on three sides: Pittwater, the Pacific Ocean, and Broken Bay, making it perfect for surfing, swimming, sailing, and lots more. The best views are from the heritage-listed Barrenjoey Head Lighthouse.
