A luxurious 2 bed retreat, Holborn Cottage is the perfect rural stay to relax & recharge. A warm & welcoming boutique cottage, hidden away in the picturesque village of Litton, close to Buxton, Bakewell & Chatsworth House. It's the perfect bolthole for a romantic holiday or a family getaway. Inc free Wifi, parking & a lovely secluded patio. Set in fabulous surrounding countryside providing lots of lovely walks from the doorstep, and a great village pub just a 5 minute walk through the village. Holborn Cottage can sleep up to 5 guests and offers the following home comforts: On the ground floor Known as one of the oldest cottages in the village, so keeping it's natural charm, this small but perfectly laid out cottage offers a warm and welcoming stay. - A stunning and cosy living room with two big plush velvet sofas to curl up on in front of the roaring log burner. There is a cosy little window seat perfect for reading a book and watching the world go by. A cupboard full of games, books and DVD's, Smart TV with DVD player and soundbar, and an Alexa should keep you entertained. Walking from the lounge into the modern and sleek compact kitchen/diner with its dramatic black kitchen with oak worktops and a lovely dining table that comfortably seats 6 people with chair and bench seating. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to cook including Microwave (situated in a cupboard under the worktop), dishwasher, recycling drawer, electric hand blender, toaster, kettle, under counter fridge with freezer compartment, gas bob and electric oven. There are plenty of kitchen utensils, roasting tins, pots, pans, cutlery, glassware and crockery, tucked away in all of the cupboards and drawers. There is also a selection of childrens cutlery and plastic plates for our smaller visitors. On the first floor Accessed by an old staircase featuring a rope handrail, so please note there is no solid handrail, so may not suit everyone . Two beautifully styled double bedrooms both with fixed double king size beds. The master bedroom has a feature stone wall and wardrobe space for your clothes. The second bedroom has a cute built in king size bed with wall lights. Please note that you are unable to walk around the sides of the bed, refer to the photos for a clear understanding of the access. This room also has an additional quirky feature of a single sized loft bed, accessed by a steep ladder, with its own 'bedside' shelf and reading lamp. This is ideal for older children or agile adults only. The shower room offers a luxury walk-in shower with powerful rainfall and wall mounted head and underfloor heating, washbasin and WC. With another exposed stone wall and built-in storage space thanks to a quirky little nook! Outside The lovely country cottage secluded patio area with lounge furniture is fully secure when the gate is closed. You’ll have access to a BBQ (available for use between 01st April and 31st October) - please supply your own charcoal and lighting equipment. Lounge furniture and evening lighting makes this a perfect sundowner spot. There is also a patio table that seats 5 over the lane, which makes the most of the morning sun. This is not enclosed. The cottage is not far from a nearby farm so you may experience from time to time seasonal sights and smells that this can generate which is all part of their day to day working life. There is parking for one small to medium sized car on the gravelled area next to the stone outhouse- please note that if you find upon arrival that your car is larger than the space, please use alternative free parking. Please ensure you don’t block access for other residents on the lane. We find pulling in diagonally takes cars such as Seat Ateca, Mini Coutryman, Kia Nero, Volvo EX30, BMW 1 series ( all around 4.3m) There is plenty of free village parking on the main road or across the road from the cottage next to the Air Ambulance collection containers as an alternative solution. Travel by car is recommended. Public transport in this rural part of the Peak District is limited. At Christmas the house is dressed with a Christmas tree from first weekend in December to first weekend in January.
A quiet farming village in the heart of the Peak District. Surrounded by green fields and dry stone walls.
The property is located on a private lane accessing 5 properties. Occasional cars will pass by the cottage.
The cottage is not far from a nearby farm so you may experience from time to time seasonal sights and smells that this can generate which is all part of their day to day working life. During milking time you will hear cows mooing.
Within a 2/3 minute walk you can reach the village green, with community run shop, cafe and post office. Opposite this is the village school and The Red Lion, a traditional country pub with log burners and a hearty menu.
There is a newly refurbished play park over the road from the cottage.
From the village there is easy walking or driving access, to the village of Tideswell where you can find butchers, cafes, restaurants, pharmacy, pubs etc.
Travel by car is recommended. Public transport in this rural part of the Peak District is limited.
On foot you can take many lovely walks and access the village of Tideswell.
Busses to Bakewell, Monsal head, Castleton, Chesterfield, Sheffield and lots of stops in-between.
By car you centrally located with easy 15-20 min drives to fabulous locations such as Chatsworth House, Stannage edge, National Trust Longshaw estate, Haddon Hall etc
