We had such a wonderful stay at Old Shop. The location was perfect and just what we needed - a peaceful, quiet break from the hectic busy schedules. We felt right at home as soon as we arrived. The house was welcoming every room was clean and tidy and the house was lovely and warm. The beds were the most comfortable beds and we had the best night sleep! Waking up to the countryside views with a cup of tea was just beautiful. We highly recommend a stay here. It makes it even better that this property is dog friendly! Not very often do you find such a beautiful property that is dog friendly. Clifford thoroughly enjoyed his stay here too 🐾 The host was very responsive and always on hand to answer any questions we had. Highly recommended ☺️
Lovely home we stayed in despite the rain we enjoyed days in playing board games and just relaxing. Matt was really responsive to any queries we had.
We had a great Easter weekend break at Bimbi's place. The house is pristinely decorated and equipped with super comfy beds. Bonus that there is use of the EV charger. Hulme End is a lovely peaceful little village and we enjoyed trips to the local pub and tea room, both very close. The property is well located for walking in the peaks and cycling on the many trails including the Manifold Trail accessible right on the doorstep. Host responses are provided by agency which means although there are many people, they are always responsive and helpful. Once we arrived we appreciated the personal touches in the house such as the gifts and written card and note. Highly recommend.
Hulme End is a small but pretty village, situated on the Staffordshire/Derbyshire Peak District border beside the River Manifold. It is surrounded by beautiful White Peak countryside, characterised by rolling green hills and ancient dry stone walls.Hulme End was once the northern terminus of the Leek and Manifold Valley Light Railway, used in the 19th Century primarily for milk trains. The old station building has now been restored as an interesting Visitor Centre, with souvenirs and displays about the historic line. One of the engines has also been rebuilt and is open to the public at the site. The route of the old railway line has now been converted to the Manifold Way, an 8-mile trail running from Hulme End in the north to Waterhouses in the south. It runs mostly through the Manifold Valley, and is popular with walkers, cyclists and riders.
Hulme End has little in the way of amenities, but it does have a wonderfully positioned pub, The Manifold Inn, on the riverside, as well as a large and popular campsite. Otherwise, the village is mostly made up of cottages and farm buildings. The building opposite the pub is the old toll house, located on an 18th Century stone bridge. It was built to serve the turnpike and river ford. If you enjoy walks then locally we have Thors Cave, The Roaches, Dovedale and Beresford Dale and Manifold Way. Hartington is a good walk or short drive away and boasts shops, pubs and a local cheese shop.
The nearest train station is Buxton - around 20 mins drive away
Buses run regularly from the nearby Manifold Inn
