The Hideaway guest suite has the full Alaskan experience with parkland on three sides, the famous Chugach Mountains through wall-to-wall living room windows, a dedicated workspace, and all the comforts of home. The Alpenglow is a classic chalet-style home built in the 1960s. Alaska runs deep into its foundation, with a rich history behind the land, property, and ownership. My husband Nathan and I live in the upper level of the chalet. The Hideaway is a cozy space with a private entrance in the lower level of the Alpenglow, completely separate from the rest of the chalet. Modernized and updated while maintaining its Alaskan charm, the best part is the panoramic view. From the Hideaway, you can watch the Chugach Mountains light up at sunrise and sunset while turning a dazzling reddish-pink in the phenomenon named "alpenglow", which inspired its name. You can also catch bush planes taking off or landing just overhead, see The Northern Lights dance across the sky in the winter, or wave to the frequent moose and bear visitors right outside your door. The Hideaway has one bedroom with a cozy queen bed and top of the line luxurious mattress, plus an additional sleeper sofa (with a view) in the living room. There is plenty of room for storage with multiple large closet spaces and hangers. There is only one full bathroom which is attached to the bedroom, so guests sleeping in the living room will need to share this bathroom space. The full kitchen includes all the basics plus a little extra: dishes, silverware, pots and pans, utensils, spices, microwave, cookie sheet, olive oil, salt and pepper, toaster, water purifier, and more. A coffee and tea bar is stocked with everything you could need, and local Alaskan coffee. Other amenities to ensure you feel right at home in the Hideaway include a lock box with keys for easy self check-in, free off-street parking, a guidebook for local recommendations, Alaskan reading materials and decor, extra towels, extra sheets, 39" HD TV with Roku, free high speed Wi-Fi, a desk/workspace with a view, and more. The Hideaway isn't suitable for kids or pets.
