Plenty to offer for all ages, attracting visitors from far and wide.
Just 11 miles away, the medieval black and white town of Much Wenlock offers a fine selection of shops, inns and restaurants and again walking. Opportunities to take in the wonderful views over the Wenlock Edge escarpment. This is the town that inspired today’s modern Olympics and visitors can explore a magnificent collection of Olympian artefacts in the local museum.
Within a 30-minute radius there are numerous places of interest including:
• Ironbridge Gorge, the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution and now the picturesque setting for fascinating museums
• The village of Wroxeter which is built on the ancient Roman city of Euriconium and an English Heritage visitor centre.
• The historic town of Ludlow boasts Michelin starred restaurants and many other great food shops and places to eat. Ludlow is a great place to while away the hours and often has a farmers’ market for visitors to enjoy. Its castle is also very impressive, as is nearby Stokesay Castle.
The closest railway station is Church Stretton, although Shrewsbury station is also fairly close. You would need to take taxi from the station to us.
Although we are close to Dorrington and Longnor, the bus service isn’t great.
We would recommend you have a car for the duration of your stay.
Parking for 1 car is provided outside the property, but additional grass parking is available close by upon advance request.
You can walk across fields to the local pub in Dorrington that serves good food but we would NOT advise walking back in the dark as its not lit.
