Great location right next to the beach. House was cozy and was the right size for our needs and had all we need to cook some delicious meals from home.

We had a couple appliances not working correctly but Mark had them fixed immediately. The next door neighbors are having construction done and that affects parking during the work week. Overall a great location and a good rental.

The house is large and accommodated our family of 8 easily and comfortably. Location is amazing. About 50 ft from the sand and a couple miles from one of the most beautiful beaches Oahu has to offer. The house was equipped with most things that we needed. We loved being away from the “city.” There were plenty of delicious places to dine just a few minutes away. The market, gas and pharmacy were all close by. All in all it served its purpose. We did have 4 issues with this location. First, there was not a single curtain or window covering anywhere in the entire house. There was construction going on about 30 feet from the window everyday, morning to night. The construction workers had clear sight of us. When I brought it up the owner said, “good point,” but offered no solution. We went out and purchased painters tape and used every sheet we could find to create a little privacy by taping them over the windows. Second, the roof leaks. At first it was in the living room inches from my sons head (trundle bed in the living room). We discovered it when we got home late one night. My 72 year old Dad almost slipped. The next day the house sprung 2 more leaks. This time in the kitchen. We had trash cans and pots all over. Third was ants! They were everywhere. There were signs in the kitchen when we arrived. So we made it a point to sweep and wash the dishes but didn’t dump the drain into the trash before we left one morning. We got back to an infestation. The amount of cleaning, sweeping and wiping needed all day everyday definitely didn’t feel like a vacation. Lastly there was 1 TV and the only thing that worked on it was streaming, so no access to live tv. At the end of the day Hawaii is beautiful and you make the best of things, but eyes wide open is always my approach.

Cannot beat this Kailua location. Go for the beach not the house. House is adequate but needs a refresh and update. Certainly cannot sleep 8 or even 6. Only two beds are in the AC and it is HOT in this home. Be aware of the construction - a small home has been bulldozed and a large one that blocks all your views and any sea breeze has replaced it. If you go in the next three or so months you will listen to constant drilling and sanding and other deafening construction noises every Monday through Friday starting at 7am. Fortunately Mark had warned us and our solution was to basically never be home. No curtains on any windows. Bring eye mask. Loads of beach toys and towels, soft blankets on beds and lots of pillows. Outside shower is a lifesaver to keep sand out of the house. It’s not only a few steps to the most beautiful beach in Hawaii but it’s also near some great walkable restaurants like Niko’s. We rented for a month and don’t regret a single day. Wish we could go back next week!
