Kitten Cottage is quite possibly the smallest property in the Yorkshire Dales and has been fully renovated to a high standard by the owners. Once an art studio and later a wool shop, enter via the main street into this pocket of bespoke loveliness and indeed cleverly designed cottage providing a romantic break for a few nights to recharge those batteries or even longer should you wish to explore the area from your doorstep. The open-plan living space on the ground floor boasts exposed Yorkshire stonework, wooden flooring and an electric wood burner for instant heat, whilst the fully fitted kitchen is well-equipped and caters for all your needs. Following the staircase provides direct access to the double bedroom featuring a luxurious custom made bed, crafted by the hands of the owners themselves and modern en-suite bathroom, comprising of a full-size bath and hand-held shower. The village of West Witton itself is surrounded by the most stunning scenery but is perfectly placed for you to visit some wonderful places, such as Hawes home to Wensleydale Creamery or Bolton Castle on the other side of the dale. Most importantly, those who wish to escape from cooking can walk to either pub in the village; The Wensleydale Heifer for a special occasion or The Fox, known as a welcoming traditional pub serving homemade food and local cask ales. Kitten Cottage set in the village of West Witton on the edge of The Yorkshire Dales National Park with it's very own award winning restaurant, The Wensleydale Heifer a few strides up the road and The Fox, one of the oldest building in the village, a more traditional cosy pub serving home-cooked meals and local ales. The village is an excellent base for exploring all the area has to offer. to blow the cobwebs away, take a walk up Penhill which overlooks the village and boasts spectacular views of Wensleydale and beyond.
A short drive away will take you to Aysgarth Falls a series of waterfalls surrounded by woodland with various walks for all abilities.
A 10 minute drive East the bustling Market town of Leyburn, has a fine array of independent shops, cafes and pubs, serving locally sourced produce. The Sandpiper and The Black Swan Hotel serve excellent food. Campbell's supermarket has a traditional butchery counter, a delicatessen counter and a wine selection said to be the finest in the North.
Head a little further into the dales you will find the picturesque Bolton Abbey, priory ruins on the banks of the river Wharfe, with plentiful space to enjoy a family picnic and many walks only a short drive to the small market town of Grassington with its cobbled market square and many independent shops and eateries, a good starting place for many walks including the picturesque Linton Falls.
