We're located on a quiet country road one mile from Putney village. This is romantic spot for a couple and lovely for a larger group as well. We hope you will come and experience the slow and sweet pace of life here in rural Vermont, this very comfortable and beautiful home, and the peace of our lush and generous farm. The whole property can accommodate larger groups (up to 12) if needed. The house is furnished with very comfortable furniture, a big family table, antiques, thoughtful lighting, and lots of happy plants. Begin your day with a barefoot walk into the garden to harvest fresh flowers and herbs for tea; read the paper on the comfortable daybeds on our spacious covered porch with views of the woods; walk the farm with a tasty Vermont IPA in hand; play a game of corn hole, badminton or horseshoes; and check out our very special local’s Area Guide to explore our fave woodsy hikes, secret swimming spots, and dreamy Vermont day trips. Lovely evenings await you at the fire pit under the big sugar maple (we have roasting skewers for s’mores!) followed by a long soak in our two-person tub in the master bath. Or head out to the surprisingly abundant cultural activities in Putney village: classical music at Yellow Barn, all manner of performances and music at Next Stage, community suppers, and puppetry at the famed Sandhill Theater (all within a 5 minute drive). Come prepared to restore - the countless stars in our dark night skies, hooting owls in the night forest, and the overall deep peace on the land here are a recipe for deep sleep and rest. The house has a large gas BBQ on the covered porch, furnished with daybeds and cushions. The chef’s kitchen has lovely soapstone counters and is replete with all you need to enjoy your Vermont farmstand haul...Vitamix blender, good knives, a burr grinder for your coffee beans etc. All finishes are zero-VOC, the walls are breathable clay plaster, and the mattresses and upholstery are free of chemicals and flame retardants. We use all green, fragrance-free cleaning supplies. The beds are plush and immaculate with comforters, all-cotton linens and two kinds of pillows. The space is scrupulously clean and everything is in fine repair. There is fast WiFi and two big and comfortable working spaces with generous desks - one in the master bedroom and another tucked to the side of the living room. There are puzzles and games as well as an extensive library of beautiful books on homesteading, spirituality, design and more. Beautiful light from the many windows stream into every room and the views are of woods, fields and sky. There are four dwellings on our six acres - your house, a one-bedroom cottage, a beautiful yurt, and the owner’s tiny house. The dwellings are spread out and yet offer privacy... there is a sweet balance of privacy as well as a view of the Vermont homesteading life.
