This place was an AMAZING place to stay in Northern Maine! Extremely quaint location. Peaceful and perfect for the solitude we were hoping for on our stay. Brenda and Allen were extremely accommodating and went over and above to make it possible for us to stay there. They gave tons of local suggestions to make our stay easier, which were very helpful. This place is not close to many restaurants or activities, but is perfect for anyone looking to spend time on the coast away from lines of people! We got to get lobster right off the boat, and enjoyed every local we met! The house was very clean on our arrival and it was super easy to check in to. This place met and exceeded all of our expectations! I would say that elderly people might find the stairs hard to navigate. I would highly recommend staying in Castaway Cottage, and hope to be able to return some day! Maggie

While we didn't stay at the cottage ourselves, our family members said that it was clean, cozy, comfortable, and quiet, and that they enjoyed their stay very much. I believe that they would recommend it to anyone who wants to visit the area.

What a sweet cottage with a spectacular view! Loved the upstairs sleeping room with comfortable bed and basked in warm morning light. Wonderful soft duvet and a heater and fan for a lovely airflow. The kitchen was so well stocked for cooking it was exceptional. Brenda and Alan are available and communicative. I was caught in a storm with a power outage and we navigated through it well together and they offered to extend my stay without my even asking which I found refreshing and thoughtful. It is a rich community with fresh seafood and hiking trails nearby. They are wonderful skillful hosts and the village is very friendly. They have abundant information and instructions for whatever you may need. Gorgeous sunsets and beauty regardless of the weather. I am a solo traveller and found it just right for my needs:) Hope to come again:)!

**Winter stay** snow not guaranteed but Mother Nature did deliver. Brenda is a phenomenal host. Extremely informative about the house and surrounding areas. The house is a great quiet respite. Close to its very own beach that is great for beach combing with hiking trails right out the front door. If you’re looking to explore Lubec/Machias/Roque Bluffs, Ellsworth/Bar Harbor/Acadia and even mid coast (Camden area) her house is in a nice central location if you’re planning to go up and down the coast. If you’re looking for peace and quiet this house is it! The pellet stove was amazing!! The kitchen is also stocked with about anything you can think of. A great help when you’re coming from far out of town.
