Beautiful country cottage in a picturesque location with charming views situated on a public footpath leading to some of the best country walks within the North West. Blackbirds Cottage is a detached spacious two bedroom both en-suite holiday home situated in the heart of Douglas valley, within a ten minute walk to the idyllic village of Parbold which has three country pubs, a wine bar and cafe. Surrounded by beautiful scenery and wildlife you’ll be sure of a relaxed, private and peaceful stay. Blackbirds cottage has recently been fully renovated to a high standard. The cottage is situated at the back of a large Farmhouse on beautiful gardens in the countryside. It has a spacious living room, lavish open plan fully equipped kitchen diner, utility room, dedicated work area, two en-suite bedrooms super king (available as twin room on request) king room both with high quality showers fitted. Large outside area with seating, bbq and direct access to the country side walks. Very private, tranquil location set away from road noise.

It was clearly a new airbandb. - everything was brand new. We did miss a few items in the kitchen as we did not eat out - the lack of a teapot was instantly remedied. Wholly amused by the enormous colander! The location is fantastic for birdwatching/listening and for wildlife. The walk into Parbold itself was easy, pleasant and very convenient. Apart from walking in the immediate locality we visited Astley Hall, in Chorley, Rufford Old Hall (National Trust) , Heskin Hall antiques and slightly further afield RHS Bridgewater. The cottage proved a brilliant base. I myself am fairly local but was 'hosting' a journalist friend of mine. Very comfortable , homely and relaxing after days out. A return visit is certainly on the cards .
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The host was so friendly, helpful and responsive. The property is just beautiful. The pictures don’t give it justice! The host even added little touches like leaving us some milk, bread and butter. The area is so quiet and peaceful. Pubs are a short walk away and served lovely food. Would highly recommend. Lovely property very peaceful location
Very peaceful, beautiful location, tasteful decor, comfy beds, great showers, amazing tv set up. Lots of little details that make a difference for a short stay-dishwasher tablets, tea, coffee, bread and butter, enough toilet rolls. They sorted the travel cot for the little one too- it was up and ready when we arrived. Good gastropubs nearby too if you don’t want to cook. Highly recommended. We would book again. Can’t say better than that!
We stayed 2 nights with 1 dog. We found the property very warm, homely and relaxing. had everything you need, including milk and butter which is so handy, as well as all shower products. walks on the doorstep; we walked to the village and stopped in the wine bar, there is a Morrisons Local. We also did a circular walk to Appley Bridge and ate at Pesto italian which was really nice. Would highly recommend this AirBNB. Thanks for having us.

The cottage is situated within the grounds of Blackbirds farm. The nearest neighbour is approximately 150 yards away. This is a very private location but only a 10 minute walk across the fields and down a picturesque canal to Parbold village, or a 2/3 minute drive by car.
Plenty of pubs, restaurants and shops nearby.
Blackbirds cottage is located at blackbirds farm which is in the centre of Douglas valley away from neighbours so you’ll be sure of a quiet, private relaxing stay. A 3 minute drive to Parbold village which has a train station. The field stye at the back of the garden area (see pictures) will take you to Parbold village which is only a 10 minute walk across 2 fields over the bridge crossing the river Douglas into the old medieval school yard and onto the canal which will bring you out by yours is the earth cafe, which I highly recommend. If you choose not to walk into the village there’s an abundance of walking routes from the canal area which are extremely scenic.
