Our bach is in a quiet area of Pataua with both full time residents and holiday homes next door.
Pataua North is a good old fashioned beach in Northland with a beautiful white sandy beach providing great surfing and boogie boarding opportunities. The north side and south side villages are connected via a footbridge that is a perfect place to jump from at high tide.
The estuary is a great swimming spot for children and no matter which way the wind is blowing you're able to get a sheltered spot either on the main surf beach or the estuary itself.
Pataua South which is a walk across the bridge also has a surf beach (called Frogtown, down by the campground) which is ideal for boogie-boarding.
Please note there are no shops at Pataua North but the campground on the south side does have a small shop for essentials and Tahi Honey, just before you get into Pataua North does operate a cafe over the summer period.
