Bryngwyn · 农家仓房 · 3室4床2.0卫 · 可住6人 · The Stable Block
A superbly designed new conversion of an Arts and Crafts building. The Stable Block is a unique setting for a peaceful get-away or a family holiday. With views to the Sugar Loaf mountain, the house brilliantly combines the historic quirks and character of the building with all modern comforts and amenities. Whether you're looking for a comfortable base for exploring Monmouthshire or a restful break in front of a wood-burning stove, The Stable Block is an ideal location for a great holiday. A modern architectural conversion of a grade II listed building, The Stable Block is in the grounds of a larger house and next to a working stable, with horses and a donkey. Overlooking the Brecon Beacons, the property is a light-filled space with its own garden area adjacent to fields. You enter through the front door to a spacious hallway with a picture window to the countryside beyond. The main living area has a kitchen with induction hob and dishwasher, with a dining table to seat six. French windows lead out from the kitchen to an outside seating area with a table and benches. The old sliding doors have been converted to rotating louvres against a glass wall - a very special feature, which allows for light or privacy. There is a large comfortable sofa and two arm chairs around a wood-burning stove but the property benefits from underfloor heating and is well-insulated throughout. There is a large double bedroom on the ground floor and a spacious accessible bathroom complete with walk-in shower and comfortable bath. The 'tack room' provides another exit to the car-parking area and plenty of space to hang coats and park wellington boots. Up the stairs there is the 'Hayloft', a large double bedroom with a door out onto a balcony which, if you're lucky, enjoys the early evening sun - perfect for an aperitif before dinner! On the other side is a twin bedroom and between the two rooms is a smaller bathroom, with toilet, wash basin and walk-in shower.
We stayed for 2 nights at this beautiful and extremely well thought throughout BnB for a quiet and peaceful weekend. The recently converted stables were super well presented and just what we needed. The hosts were super friendly and helpful even when we initially had an issue with the key and they quickly fixed it. I would love to come back one day.
Halfway between Monmouth and Abergavenny with Raglan and its castle two miles down the road, the house is perfectly placed for exploring the mountains, rivers, gardens, historic towns and houses of Monmouthshire. The Big Pit and the Forest of Dean are not far away.
There are countryside walks around the Stable Block but a car would be useful for further afield. There is parking beside the house and an EV charging point.
Abergavenny has a station for connections to Newport, Cardiff and London.
