Would highly recommend. We had a wonderful holiday, the accommodation was as important as the destination and we were delighted with all, from decor to comfort and Croyde is a beautiful place, we will likely return, preferably to Scilla Verna! Our host, Jo, checked in a couple of times to ensure we had everything we needed, we all felt very welcome and at home.
Fantastic location, wonderful house with all the things you need to make it an easy and comfy place to stay. Hot tub was quite a treat and lovely to enjoy after a blustery day. Thanks!
We have just had the best 4 days. It was literally perfect for adults, a toddler, a baby and a dog! Everyone was catered for. The kids bedroom with toys and books was such a lovely touch. Safe enclosed garden and outdoor shower which was great for the dog. It had such a lovely homely feel, we didn’t want to leave! Hot tub was a nice bonus. So clean, really comfy, well equipped. Location is amazing - a few minutes walk to the beach and shops/pubs, we didn’t use the car once. Jo was really great with communication and instructions. We will 100% be returning soon! Thanks for a great little holiday
We had a lovely short break here. The house is well-equipped and thoughtfully laid out, the hot tub was a bonus and the outdoor shower made coming back from the beach really easy to rinse off wetsuits etc. The beach itself is stunning, accessed by a footpath just opposite the house, and we picked up the coastal path in both directions. The local pub was cozy with decent food. As it was low season we could take the dog, who was in doggie heaven running round on the sand. The fixed stair gate made it easy to contain him in the kitchen. All in all a great few days.
Due to its perfect surfing conditions, sandy beach, beautiful countryside scenery and vibrant village feel, Croyde is a wonderful place to visit. It’s sheltered bay, on-site facilities and lifeguard presence make it a great family destination for visitors who come back year after year.
The village itself remains largely unspoiled from time gone by and has an old world feel to it which is well respected by the surfing community and holiday makers as well as residents. The centre is a hub of lovely places to eat and several wonderful pubs in the area, many of which have thatched roofs and encapsulate the traditional imagery of a Devonshire pub, offering locally sourced, seasonal produce on their menus.
North Devon’s beaches are now part of the World Surfing Reserve - one of 12 in the world. The first of its kind in the UK, and only the 2nd in Europe. It is also the first ever cold-water World Surfing Reserve, with many of the best waves arriving in the winter season.
Croyde is home to a number of nature trails and walks. One of the most popular walking trails in the village is the National Trust’s Baggy Point, which makes for some excellent coastal walking and has breath taking views as well as being generally accessible for walkers of all ages and abilities.
Other activities in the area are fabulous cycling with the Tarka Trail; the longest off road cycle path in the UK. A world class golf course at Saunton as well as a Spa at Saunton Sands hotel offering various treatments and spa days with sun deck and relaxation room for mesmerising sea views.
For the kids there's soft play and trampoline parks, Exmoor Zoo and adventure parks; Watermouth Castle and theme park, The Milky Way, The Big Sheep and Combe Martin Wildlife & Dinosaur Park.
Great day trips await in nearby Woolocombe (18 mins), Ilfracombe (25 mins) Instow and Appledore (35 mins). Lynton and Lynmouth (45 mins). The beautiful private village of Clovely is 50 mins away.
Croyde is all accessible by foot.
There is a bus service which serves the area.
The nearest train station is Barnstaple.
自我介绍
Having grown up in London I moved to Somerset in 2013 with my partner and 2 young children. We love the West Country and the amount of beautiful nature and wildlife on our doorstep as well as the slower pace of life. We enjoy spending our time outdoors exploring new places and sampling great local food.
