Stunning location, stunning cottage, loads of different places to go but more importantly the hosts are excellent and friendly. Stayed there four times now and hopefully I’ll be back.

The house is in a lovely location if you’re after breathtaking views in a rural and remote setting. It feels safe and although it’s pretty isolated knowing the hosts are just next door makes it feel more connected. The lodge is large with lots of windows to enjoy the view. Our stay was in the summer but I can imagine a winter stay would be very cozy. Some of the facilities could benefit from just a little update given the price of the accommodation (beds a little uncomfortable, bedroom TV tiny, creaky doors). That said, the lounge particularly is decorated beautifully and the kitchen well equipped, with a nice new oven and a fabulous fridge, and there are lots of pictures, photographs, and decorative items dotted about. Bit of an annoying loud ticking sound right next to the lounge - something to do with the water well mechanism and it’s more noticeable given how quiet the setting is. Great place to take your dogs, which we paid for outside of the Airbnb system, with a nicely secured garden and lots of walks nearby. Some gorgeous beaches to visit, but be mindful of avian flu which is currently ravaging the seabird population here. We were allowed to bring our cats (our house sale had fallen through and we had nowhere to live for five week, so this was the reason for our booking). Cleanliness was very good, but as a guest you have to leave the place how you found it. This policy, seen in some other Airbnbs, is a good business model on behalf of the hosts, but a bit galling when you’re paying over a grand a week to stay there. We stayed 3 wks and didn’t have our bedding laundered, but laundering it all ourselves made no change to the overall cost - in retrospect we wish we’d chosen to have it done! The garden and grounds were very well maintained by the hosts. Our hosts were accommodating outside of their remit, making our lives easier at an extremely stressful and difficult time. Information about the local area and the house was excellent as was the welcome pack, but muddled about cancellation and refunds. Very sadly we had to cancel a return trip because my elderly mother had a fall, and the hosts have not refunded us even though their availability calendar indicates they were able to fill our cancelled dates. They’re within the rights to do this and have not breached their Ts & Cs, but it’s such a shame because we had enjoyed our stay so much, but are now left £1800 out of pocket, and feeling the accommodating appearance of our hosts was maybe not so genuine.

Beautiful house in a beautiful setting. Very quiet and peaceful. The house is extremely comfortable and really well equipped. Sean was a terrific host.

Lochcairn Lodge was the most wonderful holiday! Immaculately clean with everything you could want for a comfortable holiday stay. We loved the views and tranquility and enjoyed having lots of space for us and our two dogs to spread out after long beautiful walks in the local area or day trips to the Cairngorms. In particular, we appreciated the well stocked kitchen which included all the pots, pans and utensils you could want and more! We also appreciated the huge and super comfortable bed. Sean & Sam were the perfect hosts with great communication from the start and throughout - but also respectful of our space and gave us total privacy during our stay. This was the best AirBnB we have ever stayed in - it really felt like a home from home! Thank you Sean & Sam, this holiday was just fantastic and won’t be easily forgotten!

Wonderful stay at Lochcairn Lodge. Everything you need - including a washing basket and pizza cutter! So much space and peace. Sean &Sam were great hosts and it was lovely to feel that the dogs were valued guests too. Lots of beaches closer than it looks on the map but tbh it was good just sitting on the patio and taking in the view.
