Our place is at the edge of plateau, which gives very good views of the fields and ranges on the back of the property. There are a few houses around. Generally it is a quiet neighborhood.
Because of it's location, Dalhousie / Khajjiar, Chamba and Dharamsala can be covered as day trips from Chowari.
Local Sight Seeing:
- Trek to Chamunda Temple: (1/2 day trek to the temple on a hill visible from the bedroom)
- Trek to Nag Bintru: A day trek to an ancient temple of lord Shiva hidden in the Dhauladhar ranges north of Chowari. A short drive to a village just below the meadow that leads to the temple and then a one hour walk takes you to Naag Bintru.
- Jot Pass to Dainkund Trek: This is an easy yet spectacularly scenic day trek near Dalhousie and Khajjiar. This trek is a mule trail that links Jot near Chowari with Pholani Devi Temple at Dainkund. It is a 5.7 kilometre long trail with no steep ascends or descends. This is an excellent trek for beginners and children.
Sight Seeing Day Trips:
- Day trip to Khajjiar / Kala Top Wildlife Sanctuary and Dalhousie
- Day trip to Chamba and Chamera Dam lake
- Day trip to Dharamsala / Mcleodganj

Chowari is connected to other major towns through regular public and private bus service. Taxis are also available locally.
To Reach:
Train: Nearest stations are Pathankot or Chakki Bank (55Kms). Both these stations are on Delhi to Jammu train route.
Air: Nearest airport is Jammu (155 kms), Amritsar (180 Kms) or Gagal / Dharamsala (55 kms)
Road: NH 1 from Delhi, through Ambala, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Pathankot.
If you arrive at Pathankot, Chakki Bank or Dharamshala, we can arrange to have you picked up from either the railway station or airports at additional cost.
For day trips to Dalhousie / Khajjiar, Chamba and Dharamsala, local cabs are available. They charge a fixed per day cost of approx Rs. 2500. We can check this if you wish to use them.
