Within a block of historic Bellows Falls, Vermont, there is an Airbnb that feels like stepping back in time. As you enter the home from the front porch, the senses are immediately heightened by an entryway and living-room space that is eclectically decorated with period artifacts and contemporary art. This theme is continued throughout the home. On the kitchen table was a brochure of sights to see and a personal note from Robert, welcoming us and inviting us to visit him at his art studio. Though cozy, the view through the bedroom’s twin windows, facing the New Hampshire mountains and overlooking the Connecticut River, made it feel open and roomy. A person can peacefully sleep listening to the burble of the moving water. During the day, a screened-in room affords a view of the meticulously kept gardens on the property, great for reading or hanging with friends or family. If tourism is on your mind, Robert’s house is a five minute walk from galleries, a movie theater, and excellent dining; though, keep in mind that most of the local eateries open in the early evening. We could not have asked for a more picturesque stay in Vermont.

Great communication and outstanding hospitality. Robert is a fantastic host and made me feel at home. The room was as described and the bed comfortable. I would stay here again if I was in the area.

We came for a night on the way to a hiking trip and couldn't have had a better time. Robert made us feel right at home and let us stow our food in his fridge. The upstairs bedroom is cozy and colorful with a view of the canal and a great selection of books. We would go back in a heartbeat.

Robert's place is as listed. It might not be spotless, but it is a lived-in and welcoming home. Robert's hospitality is faultless. I really enjoyed having company - my daughter and I enjoyed a yummy dinner with Robert and his long-term guests. Even though Robert's house is a short walk from the train, he made the effort to drive down to greet us and collect our luggage. It was unusually hot, yet a cooling fan in the room made it very comfortable and a great place to rest. Our overnight stop was a break in an otherwise long and tedious train trip with a sick child, however, it was like visiting a long lost friend as opposed to paid accomodation. Highly recommended.

As presented, only please note that the only bathroom is downstairs and that there are railway tracks nearby. Trains don't run all the time but they were running the night we got in and though i didn't note the time exactly, I would say it was after midnight.
