Lovely place to stay. Host is really nice

The lodge was really new, clean, and pleasant. It was also warm and very quiet, despite the railway being so close. The views from the lodge itself are not all that, but the terrace looks out into the countryside. The café on site does marvelous breakfasts - I had freshly-made scrambled egg and really tasty, succulent bacon with toast. I really regret not having been around in the afternoons for a piece of what looked like extremely delicious home-made cake. The location is excellent for someone travelling without a car - the railway station is just 5 minutes away, and there are footpaths (including the South Downs Way) just along the road. I was staying here for a wedding at Bury Manor Barn, which is a lovely 40-minute walk along a footpath that follows the river. If you're arriving by train after dark, you definitely need a torch, as the road down from the station and the short bit of main road are not lit at all. The main road is seriously scary for pedestrians at night.
