Beautiful apartment inside Palazzo Napoli-Cavarretta, an historic noble building dating back to the 18th century in the heart of Palermo. The particularity of this house lies in some original furnishings and objects, such as the cathedral windows in the living room, one of the headboards and some chairs. From the entrance, a hallway allows you to access to the first two bedrooms, one of which is furnished with two single beds and next to which there is a bathroom with shower stall and vintage Old England style wallpaper. The second bedroom has a queen size bed, vintage headboard and closet, and comes with a shower. Both rooms overlook Via Bandiera, a pedestrian street. Next comes the kitchen, where you will find a wardrobe, a built-in kitchen and a washing machine and from which you have access to the terrace. Next is the aristocratic hall, embellished with frescoed ceilings and large antique cathedral windows and furnished with two white sofas, an antique glass table in the center, a glass dining table, vintage chandeliers and Tv. At the end of the living room there is the third bedroom, with a queen size bed, two antique built-in wardrobes, access to the terrace and frescoed ceilings. In the whole house you will find both vintage and modern items, perfectly combined. The terrace, enriched with majolica tiles and an old fountain, is large and perfectly equipped for your relaxation. We also offer to our guests truly authentic experiences to live like a local. SOOOO pretty- this place lives up to the pictures! The host was also very helpful in organizing a tazi pickup for us at the airport. We only had a few minor problems here. One was that the key to turn on the electricity was literally padlocked to the house key, which was a huge inconvenience, as this meant the power could only be on while we were home. We couldn't do laundry while we were out on the town and had to stay up late after a long day of sightseeing to wash our clothes. It also means I couldn't leave the house early to go running alone without leaving my housemates in total darkness. The other big problem was that there were NO trash cans or trash bags other than a tiny can in the bathroom. What kind of house doesn't have a trash can?! All that being said, the place is gorgeous, and as long as you can look past the weird power/trash situation you'll have a great time here.
Pro: This place is amazing when you walk in, the original marble and walls are just like the photos if not better. The terrace was HUGE and we loved having afternoon wine and snacks there. Con: This place is not the most practical for long stays or families, it has very small showers and it does not have any amenities like soap, bath products, wine openers, etc. The rooms have a bit of a dusty quality to them, to be expected with such an old building
This is an amazing aprtment, some of the fittings are a little old, but it's so ornate, and the ceilings are amazing. WE loved the terrace to have coffee on in the morning, and a glass of wine at night. The location is great. Via Maqueda is very busy, and can be noisy, but once the big front door is closed, it's quiet, and the terrace is at the back, so you don't get any of the street noise. It's a 20 minute walk from the train station. There are LOADs of bars and restaurants just outside the front door, but they are very touristy, and it's best to wander just a little bit (even just 5-10 minutes) to find somewhere better (Bisso Bistrot was out favourite). We used the LIDL on nearby Via Roma, and hired a car from 'Sicily by car', just 2 minutes away. Highly recommended
Palermo, one of the most beautiful cities of art in the country and the capital of Sicily, offers plenty of wonderful UNESCO heritage sites that can be visited in the four historic districts of the city. In this regard, tourists can take part in the "Baroque itinerary of Palermo' to visit the main monuments of the city, such as the Church of the Holy Savior, the Church of Santa Maria del Monte Oliveto and the Church of the Conception. The city also offers the opportunity to participate in the "Tour of the Historical Markets of Palermo' which will allow guests to explore the markets of Ballarò and Capo. It doesn’t matter if it’s lunch or snack time, it is strictly required to taste the dishes with your hands only! This tour will also give tourists the opportunity to admire prominent buildings, streets and squares.
The central train station is at just 1 km away and here are many connections from/to the airport and to locations as Mondello and Monreale.
