Castine · 整套民居 · 3室3床1.0卫 · 可住5人 · Historic charm with harbor views.
Our home is located in the heart of Castine. Just a few minutes walk to restaurants, shops, Maine Maritime Academy and the waterfront. At the top of our pretty tree lined street you will find the town common, library, school playground and historical society. At the bottom of our street is the local marina/boat yard, yacht club, and kayaking adventure shop. Quiet street, but within walking distance to all the town has to offer. Just an hours drive from Acadia National park. Our place is an adorable three bedroom one bath home built in 1852. It has a good sized sunlight filled living room that has water views from the bay window, and an alcove that is used as office space. The kitchen is small, but set up to maximize the space and is fully equipped with all you should need including a dishwasher. The dining room is full of charm with its original ceiling beams and a sliding glass door that leads to the deck. Our only bathroom is located on the first level of the home. It has a combo bath/shower. I like to warn people that the stairs to the second level can be steep, so if you have mobility issues it may be challenging. Upstairs you will find the three bedrooms. Two are nice sized and have queen beds, and the third bedroom is smaller with a twin bed. The backyard has beautiful harbor views and is set up with a grill, patio furniture and a fire pit for our guests to enjoy.
Great place and great host! We stayed for a week with our family of 5, including 3 young kids, so the three bedrooms were perfect and there were just enough games and activities to help keep them occupied when we were at the house. The description was spot on and helpful (only bathroom is on the main floor, steep steps, etc) so we knew what to expect and Heather was really communicative prior to our arrival. Nice touches included little toiletries if you forgot something plus k cups and an already-full water reservoir in the Keurig. The house is also a very short walk to great breakfast options if you decide to walk along the water to grab a coffee or breakfast from somewhere local. Would definitely recommend!
Heather had everything we needed at our disposal. The area was beautiful and quiet. And getting into the home was easy. Although it was tricky to find the house in the dark, our gps put the house further down the street so we had to use a flash light to find it. The listing very clearly shows the stairs and states this is an older home. For some reason (and this isn't her fault) i believed there was a bedroom on the 1st floor, but all 3 bedrooms are upstairs and the bathroom is downstairs. I drink lots of water and the stairs were treacherous at night. Having said this, they provide a night light that lights the stairs well and a flashlight at the top of the stairs to find the lamps in the bedrooms. This is something I wish we had known beforehand because we got in at 3am and had a heck of a time locating how to turn lights on upstairs as there is no overhead lighting. This isn't an issue once you know where the lamps are. The house was very clean. We really enjoyed our stay.
We greatly enjoyed our stay at Heather's place and wish we were still sitting in the backyard with its stunning water views! The house was comfortable and conveniently located to the town's restaurants and beaches and had the amenities needed for a lovely stay. Heather kindly supplied the fixings for s'mores for the kids, which was such a generous touch. Thank you Heather!
Really nice place to stay with an amazing view on the sea. Communication with Heather was great, she took time to answer all our questions. I highly recomand the kayak tour in Stonington.
Castine is a beautiful historic seaside community, and one of the oldest villages in New England. A real treasure to be had if you enjoy the quieter side of Maine. Castine is a safe walkable village with many historic sites and outdoor recreation opportunities. There are several revolutionary period forts, along with many fun places to explore including the backshore beach, which is the perfect location to watch the sunset, the scenic lighthouse, and the waterfront, where you will find the town dock, shops, and restaurants. Castine is about a twenty minute drive to the beautiful Blue Hill peninsula, and within an hours drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia National park, and the Camden/Rockport area.
We have parking for one vehicle on the property. There is also plenty of street parking available. Castine is an easily walkable village. It does not have public transportation.
