Melton Constable is a small village in the heart of North Norfolk. It's a convenient place to explore North Norfolk being 5 miles from Holt, 4 miles from Thursford and is convenient for the coast with fabulous and dog friendly beaches (dogs are allowed on all beaches at certain times of the year) - Sheringham is 11 miles, Wells-next-Sea 12 miles, Blakeney is 13 miles, Holkham 14 miles ( dogs permitted all year round) and Cromer 15 miles. Both Blickling Hall and Holkham Hall are stunning country houses and estates to visit in the area. The village is very historic and is mentioned in the Domesday Book. In the 1800s it became 'the railway capital' of Norfolk almost overnight as when the Midland and Great Northern Railway opened in 1885 a huge depot was located in the Parish. Today it's an unspoilt example of Victorian planning with a small number of streets with lovely railway cottages. It has a number of amenities including an award winning family run butchers, a convenience store and 3 takeaway restaurants. Local pubs include the The Junction in the village and the Three Horseshoes in Briston, a mile away. The village is surrounded by countryside with lots of lovely walks.

Public transport is provided by buses which run from the village to Norwich, Sheringham and Fakenham. A car is necessary and there is on street parking in and around the village
