Completely renovated to a high standard in 2022, the cottage is beautifully appointed with emphasis on a calm colour palette that compliments the sophisticated country styling. Curated using a mixture of antique and restored furniture, the aura of the cottage is relaxed and ultra comfortable. Curved walls, bleached oak beams, vaulted ceilings and delicate muted details calm the soul. The streamlined galley kitchen provides plenty of Quartz worktop space creating the ideal stage for any enthusiastic chefs to rustle up a meal using delicious local produce. Two separate seating areas are available. The sitting room features a large comfortable sofa set in front of a charming inglenook fireplace with wood burning stove, and the garden room with additional seating overlooks the lawn to the rear of the cottage. Smart televisions are provided in each of the rooms. A delightful spacious dining room provides seating for up to four guests around a farmhouse table. As is traditional for properties of this era, a bathroom is situated on the ground floor. Here a smart and contemporary shower room features a walk-in shower. An artistically carved tree branch handrail assists you as you climb the stairs to the first floor where two bedrooms are situated. The master bedroom hosts a double bed to a backdrop of stunning original oak beams. The second bedroom offers full-size twin beds dressed in fine linen with plush furnishings. The bedrooms are served by a convenient water closet nestled between. Outside, to the back of the cottage, a garden area with table and seating for four guests invites you to dine al fresco on balmy evenings. The garden is enclosed creating a safe place for the dog to play. Off-road parking for one car is available to the side of the cottage. Further parking is available on the village road. The cottage boasts a secure bike shed, should you wish to bring your own bikes. Barney is a quiet, picturesque village situated inland from North Norfolk's beautiful coastline which offers miles of walks and stunning wildlife. Nearby, the scenic Georgian town of Holt offers an exciting selection of delectable eateries and smart independent shops. The quiet lanes around Barney are ideal for cyclists to explore. Additional Information: One small to medium dog allowed (small additional charge). Pillows and duvets are synthetic fibre. Please bring your own pods for the Nespresso coffee machine (standard size). The village of Barney is nestled in rural Norfolk, five miles east of Fakenham. The village settled prior to the coming of the Normans, and was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 as 'Berlei' which may derive from Old English for 'Barley Island'. This pretty and peaceful rural village is a superb base from which to explore both rural and coastal North Norfolk at any time of the year. Pensthorpe Natural Park and The Hawk & Owl Trust are on the doorstep. Nearby Thursford Wood contains some of the oldest oak trees in Norfolk, plus an excellent display of spring bluebell, summer ferns and autumn fungi. Thursford town is famous for its Christmas Spectacular and Steam Collection.
A mere twenty-minute drive will take you to the beautiful North Norfolk coastlines of Wells-next-the-Sea, Stiffkey and Blakeney, where you can discover charming coastal villages, great gastro pubs, fantastic wildlife and so much more. For boutique shopping, the popular Georgian market town of Holt is a fifteen-minute drive away. The town is home to many art galleries, antique and book shops, and places to eat located along the high street and tucked away in hidden, charming courtyards and alleyways. There is also a monthly market that features artisan food and drink amongst other small local business stalls set to live music.
For a fine dining experience, book a table at The Pheasant or Morston Hall. Be submerged in the areas history at Binham Priory, one of the most complete and impressive monastic ruins in Norfolk, or take a tour of Hindringham Hall and Gardens. Slightly further afield, Holkham Hall and its vast expansive beach are not to be missed. The nearby market town of Fakenham has a fantastic Thursday market, a popular Racecourse, plus plenty of amenities including supermarkets and petrol stations.
