Jo’s place was a perfect spot for a few days by the sea and very close also to the coastal path. Portholland is a tiny, peaceful cove with only a few houses. The sea is only metres from your front door and accessed by climbing down a few steps; it’s worth keeping an eye on the tide times to work out the best access for swimming and there is also a more accessible beach in terms of getting in, just 10 mins walk away. Jo’s house is cosy and well equipped and comes with a small, grassed garden which is perfect for a coffee in the sun (weather allowing!) Both Truro and St Austell are only 30 mins drive away (we especially loved Truro Cathedral) Jo was a great host from start to finish, especially communication wise. Recommended if you fancy a few quiet days away in a lovely spot.

Wer Ruhe und Abgeschiedenheit mag oder gar sucht, sich selbst gut ausgestattet hat, kann die Einfachheit genießen und sich einrichten und gut versorgen, auch bekochen (aber die vielen Messer schneiden alle nicht!)

A little gem of a place. After navigating some scarily narrow lanes, we arrived at our destination. The water front was amazingly close and picturesque. The accommodation was compact and quaint. It had everything you needed and we settled in right away. The stairs took a bit of getting used to, but the lounge area was comfy and so was the bed. TheVellux window was perfect for star gazing and enabling the sound of the waves to be heard at night. Being with my partner, fishing for Sea Bass under the Milky Way is something I shall never forget. Added bonus of a dishwasher and a gas barbecue ( although we used neither during our stay ) and even ‘Alexa’ was available for morning tunes on Pirate FM ! Good car parking available. Location is good for St.Austell & Mevagissey. Everyone we met was lovely and Jo ( even though she had a very hectic week! ) was very easy to contact. If you want a quiet break in an unspoilt location, then Portholland fits the bill and so does Castaway Cottage.

Perfect little hideaway.Everything was accurately described,it is very compact and cosy but we were not disappointed.Access to the coastal paths and the beach was perfect for pre breakfast walks and swims.The home is well equipped with a very comfortable king-sized bed and strong internet signal .We were able to park for free on the sea front. Fresh garden flowers were very pretty in a vase and we felt immediately at home.Thank you Joanna for being such a great host.

The cottage was perfect for a short getaway for two adults, a toddler and a dog. It's small but absolutely fine for a cosy stay. The photos are accurate. The house is well stocked with kitchen equipment. Jo the host was very friendly and responsive. Portholland is very peaceful and tucked away, yet within easy reach of places like the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project. The beach is great - the tidal range is big, so you go from waves crashing against the wall at high tide to having a decent sized sandy beach (with very few people on it) at low tide. Overall, we had a great stay at Castaway and I'd recommend it to others.
