Secluded rural setting close to coastal path & beaches. A fabulous location to explore Cornwall. Family run for over 40 yrs. 5 min drive to Crackington. Featured in The Guardian in May 2017: 'This place is gorgeous. Wooden beams, a high ceiling, charming wonky floors and walls that mean you are in a “real” old house. Natural light pours through the windows, and outside are rolling landscapes of dewy-morning grass lit up by the sun – all accompanied by the sound of birdsong and bleating sheep.' Unique ancient Cornish barn, oozing charm and character; situated in rural location, yet only six minutes drive from gorgeous Crackington Haven beach, or a hearty hours walk across stunning coastal path. This cosy cottage sleeps four in a double and a twin room. Cleave Cottage has slate and wooden floors, stone walls and old wooden beams. This ‘upside down’ cottage has a lovely contemporary feel, whilst maintaining its unique rustic character. It has central heating and a cosy wood burner. It is open plan upstairs with shower room and bedrooms downstairs, one double and twin bedroom. It is situated close by three other cottages. Fully fitted kitchen/diner with large fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher. Oak wooden floor of open plan area, which slopes gently as it did as an old grain storage barn. Quote from Pete Newham who stayed in Cleave Cottage in 2019 - 'We've holidayed in Cornwall for years and love it, we especially like the north coast, but we never stay in the same cottage twice. However, last year we felt there was something special about Cleave Farm and want to return again to Cleave Cottage.' They did return - and keep returning every year! Your safety is a top priority for us - we are fully compliant with the new strict fire regulations. Please be assured that we are cleaning the cottage in the most thorough way possible in between bookings. Check in time is 3pm and check out is 10am on day of departure please. The cottage is located up a mile long, single track lane which passes through a stream. It is set within Cleave Farm's fields and woodland and is very close to the spectacular, rugged Cornish path and coastline. It's only 200m from the coast path with spectacular coastal and woodland walks. The kitchen and living space is open plan and spacious. There is plenty of outdoor space to play, chill, BBQ and star gaze in the evenings! Cleave Cottage is set among eight dwellings on the farm - we live in Middle Cottage next door. We are secluded and tucked away in a wonderful location, yet not too far from many exciting places that Cornwall has to explore. Many people return again and again to holiday at Cleave Farm - this is proof of the charm that this place offers! Please be respectful of other people who live or are on holiday at Cleave Farm by being mindful of noise levels - Cleave Farm is more of a tranquil and relaxing space than a place to be loud and rowdy - we appreciate your understanding and being respectful of this. Check in time is 3pm and check out is 10am on day of departure please. JULY AND AUGUST are blocks of weekly bookings only, which run from Saturday to Saturday. Please be mindful of your noise level, as there are other people living and holidaying at Cleave Farm, which is a peaceful and tranquil place to stay - quiet times between 9pm and 9am. We can accommodate very well behaved dogs at Cleave Farm. No monthly discounts during school holidays. We are a twenty minute drive from Bude. Crackington beach has a great pub - The Coombe Barton Inn - with good food and sometimes bands etc. There are also two cafes. The beach provides surfing, rock pooling, sand at low tide and is a great place to watch the sun disappear into the sea. We are certain you will fall in love with Crackington and many of the other spectacular places that there are to visit locally.
It’s a beautiful place. Very peaceful. Gorgeous location. Lots of walks locally and beaches within driving distance. Katy is very friendly and helpful. Thank you!
A great location, close to a really amazing part of the coast path. The cottage was lovely, just what we wanted for a winter getaway. Katy was great from start to finish, which made it all really easy.
We loved our stay in St. Gennys. Beautiful rural location with access to a fantastic coastal path. Even provided a little grill that we used for a barbecue. The cottage was cosy and we felt home there. Perfect spot for hikers.
We are very proud that Crackington Haven was awarded a Seaside Award in 2019. These are only awarded to coastal destinations that boast the highest qualities of water, facilities, safety, Keep Clean programmes, environmental education and management.
There is so much to see locally and slightly further afield. We can advise on fantastic day trips in Cornwall and Devon. There is always something to suit everyone. My family renovated the barns at Cleave in the 1970's. They have been updated since and have provided a wonderful setting for holidays for over 35 years. Many families have returned again and again. One couple have returned every year for 29 years! The cottages are set in farm and woodland and are a three minute walk to the stunning footpaths of the rugged, spectacular coastline. The cottages are reached up a mile long lane, passing through a stream. I live at Cleave with my husband Gary and our three children and am a part- time primary school teacher. There are chickens and ponies and sometimes sheep and pigs on the farm. We are a wonderfully secluded location, but only five minutes drive away from the fantastic surfing beach of Crackington, or 40 minutes walking along the cliffs. There is sand at low tide and amazing rock pools to explore. At Crackington Haven, there is a great pub called The Coombe Barton (where my husband Gary works as a chef!) and two cafes. The lovely seaside town of Bude is only 11 miles away. Many visitors enjoy exploring the wonderful delights that Cornwall has to offer including; harbour villages and historic towns, stunning beaches, delicious local food, wild moorland and ancient woodland walks, cycling and walking, just to name a few. We will be very happy to offer you advice to help make your holiday special and memorable and look forward to welcoming you to Cleave Farm.
