Retreat to this beautiful part of the wild North Cornish coast, and be surrounded by green fields, yet have far-reaching views to the sea. Just a 12 minute drive to Widemouth Bay, a popular surfing beach, and 10 minutes to Bude…a thriving little coastal town with award winning beaches, shops, cafes and restaurants. Explore the stunning South West coastal path or pick up one of the cycle routes that pass the cottage. This is a perfect place to accommodate a peaceful or active getaway Carrageen is a light-filled little home, entered via a blue garden gate and through a private, pretty courtyard.The outdoor table and chairs encourage an alfresco meal under the apple tree, sipping a glass or two of wine, or a local Cornish ale, whilst watching the sun set over the Atlantic. We get amazing skies that we never tire of! And on some days you can hear the sea….when it is rough! A good size kitchen is well equipped for those who enjoy relaxing whilst working their culinary skills! There is a Gorenje fridge with small freezer compartment, an induction hob, a double electric oven with grill, a Bosch washing machine (with a line to dry clothes in the back yard) and a small dishwasher. A selection of local cookbooks are displayed for you to peruse and be inspired by. Have breakfast on the old pine table, whilst planning your day, or in the courtyard, should the weather allow! The lounge, with its high ceiling and skylights, is a lovely light room to relax in, even on a dull day, with antique stripped pine furniture, local art, and plants. On chillier evenings, close the French linen curtains and cosy up on the comfy Ikea sofa in front of a wood burning stove (wood will be supplied for your first fire and is easily attainable at the Whitstone Spa or our local petrol garage two minutes way). There is a Smart tv, but please be aware that the signal can be sporadic, depending on the weather, but the internet is good. There are books to enjoy as well! A circular table is another place to eat for a romantic meal, or provides a place to work at, with easy access to a plug socket. IF you decide to come in December, Carrageen will be lit with fairy lights! A contemporary shower room with large shower cubicle, is adjacent to the calmly decorated bedroom, with far reaching views. Sink into the comfortable kingsize bed, dressed with a washed linen duvet cover and cotton sheets. I have a new travel cot (with bassinet for a tiny baby) which can be put up on request. I also have a highchair . Carrageen is adjacent to our 1920’s family home, but has it’s own private entrance, parking space and courtyard. It is all set up for a short break or a two week holiday…..or longer! The proximity to many wonderful award winning beaches (some blue flag), and the bustling town of Bude make it an ideal holiday destination. Boscastle, Tintagel, Duckpool, Morwenstow, Hartland are all beautiful places to visit. Dartmoor, Port Isaac, Padstow, Polzeath, the Camel trail, the Tarka trail, Tavistock, Llanhydrock, and Rosemoor are further afield but just a few of many places worth a journey. We love to take a day down to Eden or The Lost Gardens of Heligan, or St Ives. There is no part of Cornwall or North Devon you cannot explore!
