Amy's place is located on a beautiful piece of land -- remote with views of snow-capped mountains (Feb/Mar), distant lights of Santa Fe at night, sunsets. House was ample for me and my pup for a six-week stay at the end of a mild winter. I also appreciated the opportunity to experience living in a hay bale constructed home (great insulation) and on solar power (indoor battery meter never dropped below 85% capacity). The location allowed for lots of easy day trips (Santa Fe, Taos, Jemez, Abiquiu, Albuquerque,...) -- although nothing is close per se. The dirt road to the house is two miles and requires slow and careful driving. After an overnight rain, my vehicle was unable to make it out one morning due to mud. Overall, it was a great stay -- incredibly secluded and scenic! Thank you, Amy!
We had a fantastic stay. I wish we could have spent even more time there! The views are beautiful. I'm a big guy and the shower was a challenge, but I saw the photos and knew that when I booked it. The house and location are exceptional and worth that small inconvenience. It was cold when we arrived in the early evening and it took a little while to warm it up the first time, but once we did it was quick to warm back up when we returned after exploring the area each day. We loved it!
We enjoyed the peaceful, beautiful, private location. And the home itself was sweet. Amy was very responsive. Electricity and hot water were great. There were a few details not in the posting which I feel should be. We were there in December and it was cold. The only heat source was a wood stove, and there was no kindling or newspaper to get the fire started. The first night we had to get real creative to get the fire going. The propane heater wall unit was not working. Also, the 2 mile road to get there is unpaved and full of holes and rocks. Not great for a car. It poured rain one night and parts of road were a slippery, muddy mess. We have an all wheel drive vehicle that slid around but traction control kicked in. We were not driving fast. Not sure a 2 wheel drive vehicle would have made it the one morning.
Amy’s place is great for those wanting a true getaway. Situated in the beautiful mountains south of Santa Fe, the views are incredible and the silence precious. In the winter, you’ll need to build a fire in the wood burning stove. Artistically designed and environmentally friendly, it’s a great place to stay.
This Airbnb was aesthetically pleasing to look at especially downstairs living room area, but upstairs was definitely more DIY. The floors are kind of stained upstairs or possibly mold since it’s unfinished wood from Home Depot. I’d agree with other reviewers that the water has a terrible sulfurous smell but thankfully I was prepared for it upon reading reviews. I had asked the host if there was snow but she didn’t get back to me. Thankfully, I prepared in terms of clothes since there was snow in the area. The road getting there is bumpy and Apple Maps recommended an even bumpier road that could have damaged rental car. Overall, fireplace was nice and cozy, location was beautiful.

Lots of covered parking under the pole-barn!
The property is located two miles off of Highway 14 (Turquoise Trail).
Camino Cerro Chato is a dirt road; slow speeds are advised. The road is rough in a couple of spots, but drivable for all types of vehicles.
