This house was charming, clean, and massive! Our kids had loads of fun exploring it all. The beach is private and beautiful!
Evolve did a great job during our stay. We had an issue with the homeowner where the power was not on when we arrived but Evolve worked with us to resolve the issue so we could enjoy our stay. Hopefully the homeowners can get a little more organized and avoid issues like ours down the road, but we would definitely rent this house again.
With some TLC this could be a great place. As it stands it is very okay and ultimately overpriced for its current condition. Pros: - Large house with lots of bedrooms and spaces, good for multi-family - nice yard and lake view Cons: - Dirty - very little furniture (no nightstands for example) - poorly stocked kitchen - many appliances did not work (center island oven for example), water filter >99 days overdue to change - no window coverings in master bedroom with east-facing window - on a busy road, fair amount of road noise and a little tricky in and out
This property is not suitable for a rental, it needs so much work. We were the first Airbnb guests here, so we took a bit of a gamble, and I definitely regret it. Won’t be booking a place without reviews again. The view of lake Michigan & the large back yard for relaxing are awesome, but in the house, we continued to recognize more and more problems as our stay went on, and because of this, we spent the majority of our time outside. We looked up the history of the house, and it seems like because they could not sell it, they figured that they would try to rent it, and it’s really thrown together without any actual attention given to the extensive maintenance that the house needs. There’re safety issues (especially if you have elderly people are children in your party)—I was embarrassed to host my family here. I would share more details here, but Airbnb only gives me 1000 characters. In a nutshell — mold, spiders and cobwebs, dysfunctional doors and windows, broken appliances, and more.
This location was incredible. Right on Lake Michigan, there is a grassy, winding path down to the water. There are 2 fire pit locations, one next to the house and one halfway to the private beach. The beach is mostly rocky but you can definitely access the water, though we didn't swim. The house is a fun mix of architectural styles, and we enjoyed the quirky charm of the older parts of the house with the modern amenities. The house was stocked with linens, supplies, and everything we needed to make it a fun weekend with our group. We loved the lake views from the house and the privacy. There aren't a lot of places nearby, so it's private, so you will need to drive around 10 minutes to get to restaurants and shopping. There are a few bedrooms on the first floor, and the rest are on the second floor, and TVs in the main spaces. We had a great time! You may need to use the fans in some bedrooms in the summer to stay cool.
