We had a wonderful cosy stay at Anwen’s cottage! Very secluded and peaceful and lots to do around even with the rain! Check in was super easy. The cottage is well equipped and the log burner was a great addition during a few damp days. Anwen was very helpful with some local recommendations and always responsive on messages. We would highly recommend!
Beautiful cottage to stay at lovely and peaceful surroundings, wonderful welcome basket, Anwen also offered us an early check-in which was great. Very friendly and responsive to messages.
Thank you for being a great host. A very peaceful stay with our dog and newborn baby. Ideal location for reaching all the sights. A lovely touch with the Spring tulips and welcome basket :-)
Lovely cottage in a beautiful location, plenty of walks by the cottage, lots of walks, towns and beaches within 30 min drive. Cottage was well equipped and very cosy. Anwen is a great host, check in and out was a breeze, we had a great time, thanks again!
Very responsive host. Comfortable, clean, and homely cottage in a great location with stunning views and so peaceful. Very cosy living room, very comfortable bed, and good pressure shower. Lovely welcome pack which also included food & treats for our little dog. We had a lovely 3 night break here from 4-7 January.
Rhosycaerau is a peaceful small village offering spectacular walks from your doorstep. You will be situated beside a disused grade 2 listed Georgian Chapel, accompanying a beautifully serene graveyard.
Staying at Chapel House gives you wonderful views of a lake, Garn Fawr and Garn Fechan Iron Age Forts and the sea behind them. Providing breathtaking walks from all directions of the cottage or a short cycle or drive away will give you access to a multitude of stunning coastal walks and activities.
A short walk from the back garden, down the wooded path and up the fields on your right will take you to a wonderful view where you can see the coast on both sides of Strumble head, take in the Preseli Hills and on a clear day will be able to see Snowdonia! 10 min walk from the cottage to get to the top. A bird watchers paradise:
From the cottage you may see; Canadian Geese, Red Kite, Kestrel, Pheasants, Peregrine’s, wagtails and plenty more common garden birds.
A short walk into the nearby woods will take you close to some woodpeckers.
A little further to Strumble Head lighthouse and you are in the best spot to view Manx Shearwater who travel past x2 daily, this is also a great spot to see porpoise. Pembrokeshire is home to over half the worlds population of Manx shearwater, (456,000) during the months of March - August.
Our closest beach, Abermawr has a brilliant display of sand martins which will fly just above you when sat on the beach. Other coastal birds you will find in Pembrokeshire are the Chough, Fulmar petrel, Cormorant and Shag, Guillemots, Razorbills and Puffins, Kittiwake, Gannets, Storm Petrels and Oyster Catchers. Bring your binoculars and you will find most of these on a coastal walk. Alternatively you can book a boat trip to be among these beautiful creatures whilst finding out a little more about them.
Local Amenities:
Your nearest town is Goodwick, an 8 minute drive away. Here you'll find; a Tesco express open 7am-11pm every day, garage, pubs, launderette, fish and chips, pharmacy and a post office. You can also walk along the sea wall or stroll along the beach. Or a 12 minute drive will take you into Fishguard, a bustling coastal town with local delicatessens, galleries, artisan shops and many pubs to chose from. Fishguard has a co-op which is your nearest supermarket.
You do need a car or bicycle as our place is very rural, however there is a coastal path bus service ‘The Strumble Shuttle’ which is very useful when walking sections of the path. This bus takes you to St David’s or going in the other direction to Newport. Nearby stops include St Nicholas and Pontiago.
