If you are traveling to Lamu on a budget, this is worth it. The caretakers were super nice and friendly. Boniface picked us from the airport and when we arrived we needed a fridge and he sent one for us (albeit dirty, which he got cleaned the following day). The pool was dirty for half of our stay, and a few of the days when it was cleaned, it rained. For context, this is an inn/hotel and the top floor is the airbnb, and the first two floors were sometimes occupied by other guests. It’s also opposite a bar, which was quiet during our stay coz of Ramadan and low season. This is a good price for Lamu and if you are looking to stay in the old town as opposed to the more touristy Shela. Also Petley’s is one of the oldest hotels in Lamu, which we found to be an interesting fact. Overall, it was an okay stay. A lot of the issues we had came from the roof material which sheds a lot and drops lots of tiny bugs in the sinks and everywhere.

Ha d a very lovely New year's stay at Ivor's loft apartment. The ocean views were amazing and the swimming pool was just a hidden jem. Very centrally located, next to the Lamu museum. The restaurant on site had the best bbq chicken ive had in a while. Recommended

He arranged pickup and drop off to airport,mosque nearby so you have to be used to the noise,everything was okay

had a great stay at Petlys Inn Penthouse. alot of space, mosquito net, fans, wifi, strong shower, towels, communication with hosts everything worked out well. pool is a nice plus too. one negative: since everything is open with no closed ceilings it can get very loud at night, depending if the bar has a party or not. and in any case you will hear the prayers from the mosque very well but where in Lamu not hahah.

I enjoyed staying in Lamu but was annoyed to book one place and be lodged in another. The alternative was good, but I generally do not like this practice of AirBnB owners who assume they can post one thing and deliver another. So maybe check that what you are booking is where you will be staying
