we loved staying here, very cute home that suited our family well. the hosts were responsive and friendly and the location was convenient and in the middle of the action. Thanks jenny and tom!
We had a brilliant weekend at Jenny and Tom's. The flat was spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated, with thoughtful touches that made us feel at home. Beds are very comfy and the location is very peaceful, lovely to come home to at the end of the day. Jenny gave us some great local recommendations and we loved being so close to the canal and Broadway Market. Jenny and Tom were really easy to communicate with and very flexible with check-in and check-out and helping us store our bags. Thanks for a wonderful stay!
Jenny and Tom’s place was a perfect choice for my husband, toddler, and me! They were extremely hospitable and flexible with our check in time after an exhausting flight. The place is spacious, clean, well-situated, and tastefully decorated. We enjoyed all that the neighborhood had to offer!
Located in the East London borough of Hackney, the neighbourhood of London Fields attracts a young, creative crowd. With a huge selection of bars, cafes, art galleries, markets and green open space, it’s easy to see why.
London Fields, the award-winning park the area takes its name from, is a local hotspot. During the summer months, people flock here to sunbathe and picnic. With 31 acres of grass, meadows and tree-lined paths, it’s a slice of countryside in the middle of the capital. For the more adventurous folk, the park has tennis courts, an outdoor gym, a table tennis table, even a cricket pitch.
And of course, there’s the famous London Fields Lido. Open all year round, this floodlit, heated outdoor pool is one of London’s last remaining lidos. It offers all day swimming, one-to-one lessons for adults and children and swimfit sessions. It even has a well-loved cafe serving cakes, salads, bread and falafel.
Broadway Market is another popular local spot. This Victorian street market – rumoured to have partly inspired Eastenders – is packed full of independent shops and restaurants. There’s also a weekly market on a Saturday with stalls selling an eclectic range of food, local produce, clothing and flowers. It’s the perfect place to spend a lazy weekend, attracting visitors from all over the city.
For food fans, London Fields is a dream. From bakeries to brasseries, there’s a culinary option to suit every taste.
One of our favourite spots is Burnt Umber Brasserie, a community-orientated restaurant serving breakfast, brunch and lunch in a bright, airy and relaxed environment. Must-try dishes include their keto crepes and grilled lamb chops.
We also love E5 Bakehouse, a firm favourite with the locals. A true staple of the community, it serves freshly baked sourdough bread, cakes, cookies, pastries and granola. The perfect spot to grab some breakfast or a mid-afternoon pick-me-up. If you fancy learning the art of sourdough or flatbread making, you can even take part in one of their on-site bakery classes.
Another much-loved bakery in the area is The Bread Station serving Danish-style organic breads and pastries. The brainchild of Danish chefs Christoffer Hruskova and Per Brun, you can sit in, grab something fresh-from-the oven and watch the master bakers in action.
Diddy’s is a cafe by day and bar by night, serving some of the best cocktails in town in a relaxing, welcoming, unpretentious environment.
If burgers are your thing, there’s nowhere better than Patty & Bun. Located under the arches of London Fields station, its burger selection is second to none and includes the ‘Lambshank Redemption’ burger, the ‘Jose Jose’ chilli burger and the vegetarian Portobello ‘Dig It’ Mushroom burger. For ramen fans, there’s Tonkotsu. Founded by friends Ken and Emma who were fed up with London’s lack of decent noodle restaurants, this local favourite serves all the classics as well as katsu curries and a range of desserts.
There’s also a great selection of pubs in the area.
Five Points Brewery & Taproom is the ultimate destination for craft beer lovers. It serves freshly-made pints and wood-fired pizza in a cool and laid back setting. It hosts regular community events and DJs at the weekend. You can also take a guided tour of the brewhouse and get a behind the scenes look into how they make their beers.
If you’re looking for a spot for a drink in the sunshine, check out Pub on the Park, which has a huge deck overlooking London Fields. To be honest, it’s a great spot at any time of the year thanks to its warren of cosy hidden rooms and open fires. With no less than seven big screens, locals love coming here to watch major sporting events.
For fans of traditional boozers, there’s the Cat & Mutton, which is particularly popular on a warm summer’s evening.
