Relax with the whole family at this peaceful place to stay. The surrounding countryside has many walks to enjoy and picturesque, quintessential English villages with wonderful pubs to stop at for lunch. We are also close to Highclere Castle, home of Downton Abbey plus a number of National Trust properties including Basildon Park. For families, we are a couple of miles from Bucklebury Farm Park and 15 mins from 4 Kingdoms Adventure Park. Large country house with flexible living - ideal for multiple families staying together. You will arrive at the property through gates onto a large drive area with parking for 5-6 cars. As you enter the house there is a spacious entrance that leads straight to the kitchen with the formal lounge to the right. The lounge has an open fire and is a cosy and classic room. The kitchen has a new double Rangemaster oven with gas hob, a Sage coffee (bean to cup) barista machine, microwave, kettle, toaster and american style fridge/freezer. The kitchen leads to the orangery, which is the hub of the house with a large 9ft table big enough to seat 10 comfortably. We do have additional chairs so there is room for 12. There is also a sofa seating area here which is perfect for after dinner conversation. There are large patio doors to access to the patio and pool from this room. Also downstairs is a snug with recliner chairs and a large, wall mounted 60" TV with PLEX streaming service with all the latest film releases. The perfect place to immerse yourself in a great film. There is a downstairs games room which has a table tennis table as well as the football table and retro 80's arcade games for that trip down memory lane. There is a wall mounted smart TV in here and a full sofa bed that will comfortably sleep 2 children / teens. There is also a downstairs toilet and a utility room with washer/dryer and hanging space for laundry. Upstairs, the main house has 1 king bedroom with an en-suite including a large shower and freestanding bath. There are 2 further double bedrooms, one with a private shower and one further bathroom. Accessed from the main house, there is a self contained annex on the first floor. This can be opened up as part of the main house or kept separate for privacy. The annex has a twin bedroom that can be made into a super king and a further bedroom with a king size bed. There is also a bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, lounge area with wall mounted TV and an all glass dining area with views over the gardens and swimming pool. The garden is half an acre and south facing so enjoys all day sunshine. There is a beautiful 12m x 4m in ground swimming pool (available May - end September) with two separate seating areas to make use of the sun and shade during the day. There are also sun loungers and parasols. The pool is heated with an air-source heat pump and is set to 28-29 centigrade. The main patio has a dining area plus plenty of space for games including the full sized table tennis table and table football. There is also a large area of lawn with 2 x 12'x8' goalposts, perfect for a kick about! To the back of the swimming pool is the secret garden which has a pergola with a stunning 60 year old wisteria which, when flowering, is truly magnificent. There is a little seating area here to relax and enjoy the mature garden and other flowers as the seasons progress. There are many mature flowerbeds and also apple and pear treas, which are wonderful in autumn.
