Rye is a family-friendly coastal community located on the shore of the Long Island Sound. Our home is a less than a block away from the entrance to Playland - a historic waterfront amusement park. Playland also has a newly renovated recreational public pool plus beach, boardwalk, pier and a lake house that now offers paddle boat rentals. Don't miss Playland's fireworks displays over the water on holidays!
A new Tiki bar restaurant just opened on the pier with live music and a bier garden. There is also an Ice Casino just off the boardwalk in the fountain plaza for skating in the cooler months.
Adjacent to Playland is Edith Read Wildlife Sanctuary which borders the lake and the Sound with nature trails. You can also hike trails at Rye Nature Center close to town and the Marshlands Conservancy on Boston Post Road. Our property is steps away from a landscaped walk/bike path that is part of the East Coast Greenway.
On the southern border of Playland is Rye Town Park offering beautiful green space with a duck pond and a waterfront restaurant overlooking Oakland Beach. Kayak and paddle board rentals are available in season. The restaurant operates two concession stands and a bar adjacent to a sand deck with tables and umbrellas. They frequently sponsor free live music and other special events.
Also, conveniently located just down the block is Rye Beach Pharmacy, Playland Market with a gas station, G. Griffin Wine & Spirits & The On The Way Cafe.
Just a quick drive away is Rye's quaint New England style business district with a village green that borders City Hall, Rye Free Reading Room and the Square House Museum with shops, boutiques, specialty food markets and a wide selection of restaurants to choose from. There's a farmer's market on Sundays too in warmer months.
Rye train station is located in town if you want to day-trip south to New York City or north to coastal communities like Greenwich CT. One town over and minutes away is the Capitol Theatre, a fabulous live music venue which consistently draws top musical acts.

You can walk or drive to local shops, parks, beaches, boardwalk and waterfront restaurants. There are fees for parking at Rye Town Park and Playland Amusement Park. There is an off-road pedestrian/bike path along Playland Parkway that is part of the East Coast Greenway.
It’s a 5 minute drive to to downtown Rye with free one hour street parking & pay lots for longer stays. Metro-North Railroad is the best way to get to New York City with some daily 12 hour parking spots available. Payment is required from 7am to 7pm via the Passport app or the pay station at Station Plaza. There is seasonal bus service between Rye Train Station and Playland.
