Rose+Vine is located on the outskirts of Avoca, in a peaceful area surrounded by open farmland and friendly neighbours. With views to the magestic Pyrenees Ranges, clear your mind and enjoy a lovely walk towards the racecourse, along the dusty tracks of nearby cattle and sheep farms. For a trip into town simply head back around the bend and cross over the bridge of the picturesque Avoca River. A leisurely 10 minute walk, 700m in total, suited for all levels of fitness.
Avoca’s wide main street is a delight to explore with homely cafés, gift shops, art galleries and collectables all housed in historic buildings dating back to the 1850s. Perfect if you love poking around in bric-a-brac and collectable stores.
From fine dining to a classic pub meal, savour true country hospitality at the popular Avoca Hotel. The only hotel ever to be awarded the prestigious Golden Plate Award for Best Overall Dining in Victoria and recongized in Gourmet Traveller’s hall of fame. Serving local and seasonal produce together with boutique wines and craft beers the region is famous for. Open fires in winter and alfresco dining out the front in Summer, The Avoca is a must stop during your stay at Rose+Vine.
After a good feed, simply stroll towards the river behind the pub to visit the equisite Chinese gardens, a nod to the gold rush era.
If you're on the trail of art, head to Avoca's Gallery 127 at the Avoca railway station. Enjoy exhibitions from local artists and whilst there, visit the impressive Barking Owl silo art, part of the Wimmera's famous Silo Art Trail.
The public swimming pool offers a welcome relief to all visitors during those warmer summer months and the bowling club do a great meal with regular live entertainment.
We are also a very short stroll away from the Avoca golf course, or choose to pack your rod for a spot of fishing on the banks of the Avoca River. Along the same river, wander the Avoca Farmer's Market for freshly grown produce, handmade cottage crafts and collectibles on the 4th Sunday of every month.
Avoca is famously surrounded by the Pyrenees Mountain Ranges where state parks and forests have an extensive network of waterfalls, bushwalking and gravel riding tracks. The regions famous Beeripmo Walk guides you through the Mount Cole and Mount Buangor State Parks along winding bush tracks through towering rainforests to hidden waterfalls and fern-filled gullies.
Ready for a long lunch with a magnificent view? Head for one of our local vineyards. Tastings from award winning wineries and restaurants cater to all tastebuds; craft breweries for the beer lovers, gold label specialty wineries, Gin distillery and many local larders.
Avoca is also host to the Pyrenees Unearthed Avoca Wine Festival held in April each year, where you have the opportunity to try many of the Pyrenees Wines all in one location while strolling the banks of the Avoca River.
Throughout summer there is a wide range of outdoor events hosted in the Pyrenees including The Hideout Music Festival, Sunday by the River, Wild Mount Trail Run, Unearthed Pyrenees Wine Festival and live music at cellar doors.

Located in Dja Dja Warrung country, Avoca is in easy reach of Melbourne, Ballarat, Bendigo and Geelong. A 2-hour drive from Melbourne and just under an hour from Ballarat, we are proud to be a part of the unspoilt Pyrenees region.
Avoca is ideally located on the crossroads of the Sunraysia Highway and Pyrenees Highway which makes it very easy to get to no matter where you are coming from!
Group tours are available for many of the nearby wineries which include a private minibus and your own local driver.
