伍德布里奇 · 袖珍小屋 · 2室2床1.5卫 · 可住4人 · Kirby Cabin with hot tub (extra charge)
After lots of money, love, and styling, Kirby Cabin was born. With most of the rooms fully decked out in wood, we have created a log cabin feel within one of our gardens; parking for one car. The main bedroom has a king bed with en-suite loo and the second can have either two small singles or a double. Fully-equipped kitchen with dining table and four chairs and bathroom with good sized, powerful shower. Own private HotTub on request. £65 first night then £10/night - 16+ only. 🏳️🌈 friendly. Kirby Cabin is a revamped ex-holiday home, benefiting from a top-to-toe makeover. It sits in a private area of our garden, fenced off from the main house with off-road parking area for one car. We have clad the cabin (except the bathrooms) in real wood, giving it a “mountain lodge” vibe. In the living room area there is a three-seater sofa, two armchairs, a dining table with chairs, a desk for work, and a breakfast bar with two stools. There’s a shelving unit with a full set of barman’s accessories: just add your own spirits and mix away! It has a 42” Hi Def TV with all the Sky sports channels. There’s Wi-Fi, of course, and an Amazon Echo (Alexa). For rainy days or relaxed evenings there is a selection of board games and books. The kitchen features a four-ring gas hob and oven, dishwasher, fridge freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster and a Bosch Tassimo coffeemaker. The compact master bedroom has a king-sized bed, a wardrobe offering plenty of hanging space, and a small vanity table. It also benefits from an en suite toilet. The second bedroom is compact, but flexible. Two small single beds that would be ideal for kids convert to make a standard double. There is also a small hanging closet and shelving unit. (Please note that unless this room has been been specifically requested, the beds may not be made up). The main bathroom has a shower, toilet and wash basin. If you're travelling with a baby, to lighten your load, we can offer a Baby Bundle to include a cot, play pen, feeding chair and baby bath. The exterior is very private, the cabin’s garden being surrounded on two of its three sides by very high conifer hedges and at the end by a fence with the gate that gives access to the driveway. In summer, there’s a four-seat garden table and chairs, a sofa to sunbathe in, and a 4 person rigid hottub sitting under a festoon-lit gazebo (extra charge - £65 per night, and £10 per night thereafter) As regards the tub and outdoor area: 1. We follow the Pool and Hot Tub Alliance’s advice, and only allow over-16s to use it. 2. Use of the tub is strictly prohibited after 9pm on weekdays ( Sun-Thu) and 9.30pm at weekends, as the noise of bubbles and chatting carries surprisingly far, and we like to be good neighbours. 3. While music can be played outdoors, (whether or not the tub has been hired) it mustn’t be played after these hours, either; and even during daytimes and evenings, should be kept at a reasonable volume - a good guide would be that if you have to raise your voice to be heard over the music, it’s too loud. 4. By law we have to check the hot tub for its chemical balance daily. Usually around 8 or 9am. If this is not convenient for you on any given day, text us with a more convenient time. 5. If you have booked the hot tub, you will need to give us at least 48 hours notice if you change your mind and decide that you do not want it after all. If you request such a change less than 48 hours prior to 3pm on the day of arrival, you will not be entitled to a refund. This is because we will have gone to expense and effort to have prepared it heated and cleaned for you. Of course, if you only want the tub for part of your stay, that is fine, but should be made clear at the time of booking. Note that partial stay hot tub bookings must be on consecutive days only. To be clear, our property is in a urbanised area, fifteen minutes’ walk from the town centre. You may hear some low-level background traffic noise but it should not impact your stay. In fact most people say it’s very quiet there.
We absolutely loved our stay. It is even more beautiful in real life and such thoughtful interior design and little touches such as robes and flip flops. Thank you for a great weekend!
My family would definitely recommend the Kirby cottage! The ‘tiny home’ itself was beautiful, good quality furniture and beds; a place you can really relax. Even down to the little things, there was pretty much every utensil you’d need and the hosts even provided things you may have even forgot … there was a razor, toothbrush, ear plugs, cotton buds, etc. All in all, we would highly recommend and the hot tub was just the cherry on top!
Woodbridge is a thriving market town with a wonderfully historic feel. The biggest challenge you’ll face is knowing where to start exploring it: the variety of atmospheric old pubs selling excellent Suffolk beer; the eye-catching 16th, 17th and 18th century buildings, including one of only two working tide mills in the whole country; the two churches, one of them a medieval treasure dating back to the early 1400’s; the winding, hilly streets lined with chocolate-box cottages; the host of cosy cafes serving delicious coffees and treats; some outstanding
restaurants (including The Unruly Pig, voted UK Gastropub of the Year in 2022); or the many lovely independent shops selling all manner of unique pieces.
Situated right by a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Woodbridge is set on the banks of the River Deben, making it something of a magnet for sailing enthusiasts, their boats great and small moored at the various boatyards that dot the waterside. For rainy days or evenings, a small but perfectly formed cinema, The Riverside, offers a well-curated selection of mainstream and more highbrow films, with a handy restaurant and cocktail bar, “A-Listers”, attached. There’s also the Seckford Theatre that puts on a variety of classic and modern plays throughout the year.
For the more energetically inclined, there’s a good public leisure centre with a well- equipped gym and a 25m swimming pool and sauna. And if you’ve still got some puff after that, you can indulge in a wide variety of walks, from the short but picturesque river paths, to the more challenging forest and countryside hikes around and nearby the town. (Fun fact: nearby Rendlesham Forest basks in the - dubious - glory of being the site of Britain’s most famous alleged UFO sighting, back in the 1980s. Referred to by some enthusiasts as “ Britain’s Roswell”, there’s a special walk that takes you round the locations associated with the event).
Then, for a change of scenery, it’s an easy drive to the other highlights of East Suffolk’s famed coastal region - Bawdsey, Framlingham, Snape Maltings, Aldeburgh, Southwold and Orford Ness are all close by, less than 45 minutes by car, though most of them are much closer. Perhaps the ‘jewel in the crown’, though, is the world-famous Sutton Hoo Saxon burial site, a mere five minutes’ drive from Woodbridge. While all the magnificent artefacts have long since been on display at the British Museum in London, it is fascinating to walk around the visitor centre, and the mounds themselves, and hear and read about the story of the ship’s discovery on the eve of WW2. (The recent Netflix film, “The Dig”, starring Rafe Fiennes and Carey Mulligan, is well worth the watch, and tells the story rather well) .
Finally, and on the subject of war, military aviation buffs can spend time exploring the county’s plethora of RAF (and USAF) WW2 and Cold War bomber bases, many with their own small museums.
There’s off-road parking at Kirby Cabin for one car.
If you're driving into the town, there are plenty of carparks, all very cheap.
There is a bus stop 100m down the road from the Cabin, with regular services to the train station and town centre; buses also go from there all the way to Ipswich, or in the opposite direction to Saxmundham and onwards as far as Aldeburgh.
Woodbridge town centre itself is a 15 minute walk, or a five minute cycle ride (be warned, though… it’s a steep uphill ride back!).
As for trains, Woodbridge is on the Ipswich to Lowestoft branch line. Trains to Ipswich from London Liverpool Street are served by the GreaterAnglia mainline, taking just over an hour from London, and then after changing, another 15 minutes on to Woodbridge. (Ipswich is also well served with direct services from Cambridge, Peterborough and Norwich).
Taxis are readily available, generally, although during school run hours, they might be thinner on the ground. M&R Cars are the only company that will take short trips around town or to local villages; they’re based at the station, and we strongly advise pre-booking if you want to make sure of getting one quickly when arriving by train during peak hours. For longer runs to airports or the coast, Woodbridge Cars are another option.
