The thatched farmhouse cottage is over 300 years old and could not have been more quaint. David and his father Michael provided us the farm’s history including explaining what each room was originally used for. The bedrooms were generously-sized ( bedroom #3 which was the original one is a sleeping room-sized for the couple who lived here in the 18th century ) The kitchen was well-equipped -with some of the kitchenware qualifying as antique but everything worked beautifully. The two dogs, Jake and Ted are devoted to guests, hanging around our door every morning looking for a belly rub or handout ( instructed to not provide the latter) we could not have been more delighted with the grounds ( be sure to pick some raspberries-you are welcome to the garden) and we were only a few minutes from Adare and groceries, pubs, and one of Ireland’s quaintest villages. Watch out for weekend traffic. Loved our stay. ( Just in case you didn’t gather that from the previous sentences!)

We loved the thatched cottage - it felt like we walked into a fairytale. It was beautiful, historic, quiet and comfortable, with modern touches that made spending most of the week in a 300-year-old building a breeze - a very special place all round. David and his mom Joan were wonderful hosts who made us feel welcome, were responsive to any questions we had, and gave us freedom to enjoy the beautiful property surrounding the cottage. We also loved Jake and Ted, super cute Jack Russell Terriers who entertained us every time they came to visit.
