This is an ideal location for families, friends, and couples, as you would expect there are stunning beaches all around. Gwithian Towans in Hayle is the largest beach and is 6.7 miles away from Hayle, great for families, as it is flat and sandy surrounded by sand dunes, when the tide goes out it leaves large pools great for paddling, it is a favourite with surfers, there is also a portion of the beach which is dog friendly all year round. Other beaches are Porthtowan, another large sandy beach backed by cliffs in St Agnes, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, ideal for families and a favourite for surfers, a smaller beach overlooking the harbour with cafés and shops and a fish and chip shop. For the more energetic, there are numerous coastal walks where you can admire the spectacular scenery and wildlife or if you prefer, take one of the country walks, the National Trust has several houses and gardens with circular walks. You can hire bikes locally, there is a great cycle trail from Bissoe to Portreath or Wadebridge to Padstow. The area is rich in history Tin and Copper was mined locally and remnants of this can be found in the area, The Flat Lode follows part of the rail of the Basset Mine Tramway used to carry tin ore from the mines. You can do the circular walk or take the cycle route. Heartlands is a visitor attraction and Mining World Heritage Site, is a great day out for all ages.
