Enjoy a memorable stay in this 1740s cottage. It is conveniently located on the corner of a busy high street in the heart of the delightful market town of Steyning, less than 100m from various amenities, restaurants, and bordered by the glorious South Downs National Park, access to which is less than 100m from the door. Formerly the town’s sweet shop, this charming cottage has many features such as an exposed flint wall in the living room and sloping ceilings and beams.
Lovely comfy cosy cottage,in a charming village, with cafes & independence shops & beautiful countryside walks on the doorstep. All good ! We were car free,no problem with buses to & from the village.
The place was clean, warm and cosy. Location was quiet and peaceful within a nice village with lovely pubs and restaurants within walking distance. Michael was really responsive and gave us all the necessary info and recommendations to make the most of our stay. Would definitely stay again
This is our second visit to Michael’s cottage. The house was clean and cosy on a rainy October weekend and we enjoyed shopping in steyning as there are so many lovely independent shops and cafes.
We arrived in the dark and rain. Satnav tried to take us right to the other end of Mouse Lane so I suggest you use what3words for a clearer location. There was a car parked right across the front door obstructing our entrance (all weekend) and there was no mobile signal so thank god we had the code in a message we could access otherwise we'd have been stuffed for getting in; also needed a torch to get the numbers lined up. Eventually we stumbled in and the house was as described and very comfortable, though if you need the loo in the night it is a long way, down the steep stairs and up some more and through the kitchen. Michael acknowledges this but do be prepared! All that said, we had a lovely time and Steyning is a lovely place in an excellent location, and we'd stay again.
The local high street has everything you need including multiple pubs, small supermarkets, butchers, bakeries and much more. 5 minutes walk away is Cobblestone Walk, Sussex's largest collection of independent shops as well as a 16th century tea house. You can find many unique products here. The South Downs national park is just 1 minute from our front door, from where you can also access the South Downs Way walking route. You can catch a direct bus to Brighton just a few minutes from our house.
Free on street parking in our road. You can also use the local pub car park if you give them some custom. Also extensive free on street parking 5-10 minute walk away.
