Johnsonville · 农家乐 · 3室4床1.0卫 · 可住5人 · The Hanna Farmhouse
Enjoy a peaceful stay in a rustic farmhouse on land owned by the Hanna family since the 1700s. This retreat spot has centuries-old live oak trees shading the back yard and walking trails around the contiguous farm. The community offers great local restaurants, a newly refurbished municipal golf course, unique shopping options, and friendly locals. Take a day trip to Myrtle Beach or Charleston or just sit under the oaks, build a fire and watch a gorgeous sunset. This home was built in the 1950s by local farm families who helped the owners, Arles and Violet Hanna, “raise the roof.” In honor of Violet, known to her progeny as Maa Maa, there are hints of violet colors throughout the house. Additionally, Grandaddy Arles always kept cherry suckers in his refrigerator for his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Crack the fridge and get yourself one as a salute to the patriarch of this house. The original interior walls are heart pine tongue and groove paneling. The entire house is original except some laminate flooring and bathroom fixtures. The yard is constantly in bloom with Violet’s azaleas, camellias and crepe myrtles. The fields of the contiguous farmland are rich each summer with soy beans, cotton, corn, or peanuts. The garden spot near the farmhouse has summer yields of cucumbers, tomatoes, okra, squash, corn and other organic produce. And the majestic live oaks shading the entire backyard provide an amazing tapestry through which to watch the sun’s passage and the stars’ emergence.
Mona was very kind and easygoing. The instructions were very clear and simple. I recommend staying here if you are in the area!
Good place to stay in the area. Lovely house with lots of space. Nice yard. Was slightly difficult to find because the address given was different than the physical address but luckily the pictures matched perfectly to help locate. Kitchen was a bit sparse if you’re planning to prepare meals.
There are neighbors within shouting distance but no one to impede your peaceful stay.
Johnsonville and the surrounding community are traditional small town venues. Visit the hamburger or barbecue hangouts, or the “meat-and-three” eateries. Stop by a gas station for a hot dog (all the way) and a “Coke,” what all southerners call any soft drink. Parking everywhere is free
