This lovely private cottage within 20acre gardens has 1 double bedroom, fully equipped kitchen with single oven, 4 hobs, fridge freezer, washing machine, microwave, table and chairs making it suitable for longer or short stays. The bathroom has full size bath with power shower overhead, and the sitting room 2 double sofas, smart tv and wood burner giving the cottage a really cosy feel. Guests will have access to the well known Green Island Gardens and Colchester is only a 5 minute drive away.

Beautiful location set in woodlands. Lovely chalet suitable for two with excellent heating, great shower, well equipped kitchen. Very peaceful, quiet and calming. The Green Island Gardens are within easy walking distance from the chalet and are a must to visit - absolutely stunning. Everyone we met was very friendly and helpful. The information pack was very helpful and we enjoyed the local eateries. Great location for visits to Constable country (Flatford and Dedham) and interesting walks along the River Stour. Visited Wrabness Nature Reserve and The House of Essex (Grayson Perry). The return to the chalet at the end of a day out was very uplifting - the bluebells were out to greet us and gorgeous azaleas line the way in. Very lovely short break.
This place was absolutely beautiful. The photos really don’t bring it justice, it’s so peaceful and even more cozy with the log burner on. We didn’t want to leave. The log burner also kicks out more heat than you think! Fiona was really helpful and provided everything needed for our accommodation. Teabags and Coffee (the essentials) were also provided. Truly a nice getaway. You’re also in a good location, 20 minutes from Colchester town and if you don’t want to go somewhere that far there’s plenty of restaurants nearby. My partner and I will definitely be coming here again! Unfortunately we didn’t get to see the gardens but will definitely visit next time.

Nice place to stay would go again
Had a great stay at Bluebells! Unfortunately didn’t get a chance to explore the gardens due to bad weather, but the cottage was so cosy that we were perfectly content with staying in (especially with such a warm fireplace). Would recommend!

Our air B&B is set in 20 acres of beautiful professionally designed gardens and woodland areas. As a guest will have free access to the woodland area in which you can enjoy at your pleasure and the gardens between the hours of 10.00 and 17.00.
Tea-room open between 10.00 - 17.00 serving hot and cold refreshments, light lunches and snacks.
'A true plantmans paradise'
The quaint villages of Dedham and Flatford 'Constable Country' is approximately a 7 minute drive away. Close too many popular as well peaceful beaches including, Mersea Island, Walton on the Naze and Frinton on Sea.
Colchester town is a short drive boasting the beautiful Colchester Castle, Cinemas, Restaurants, Live music, Spas, Bowling and more.
London 45 minutes away on train.

Hi, I am Fiona and I have lived here at Green Island with my family since 1996. Over the last 27 years I have designed the 20 acre gardens into a plantsman's paradise which has bee open to the public since 2001. I am also an ex international amateur golfer and won the english seniors title 2017 &2021. My husband and I have 6 children, two dogs and 6 cats. We look forward to meeting new people and hope you will enjoy our gardens as much as we do!
